Canty's is the only non-4 man line sack we have had, ware was standing up and he stunted on Canty's sack.
6 out of 7 sacks, all our INTs and the fumble recovery have come with a 4 man line, but the 3-4 is causing the increased pressure.
After I typed it, I wondered if I was wrong on Canty. ESPN said a 4 man line, but I thought I remembered it being 3-4 when watching the game. I guess a 4 man line could be a 3-4 with Ware on the line and the OLB playing off.
I remember Spears sack came when he was rushing from a DT position. A position I think he could excel at.
I couldn't remember if Roy's was during nickel or not.
Granted, the bulk of your sacks should come from the nickel. That is when you typically pin your ears back and go.
However, to say the 3-4 caused the pressure is by no means true. The 3-4 has been very solid against the run against two very good running backs. I am happy with that. I haven't seen much pressure from the 3-4 yet. Granted, some growing pains are bound to occur. Its not going to be a dominant defense until the team gets some playmakers in the LB corps.
That might be Ware eventually. Maybe Fujita becomes the Dallas version of Steve Foley. I hope so. James hasn't done much. Singleton is a poor fit for the 3-4. Nguyen has made a few plays and has been the best of the LBers so far IMO.
I still think this year is a good transition year where you should play a lot of the 4-3 over/under type schemes. They are based on a lot of the same principles of a 3-4. You play to the strength of your defense (DL). With the talent on the team, you could do a variety of looks in this scheme as well. Then next offseason, pick up those playmaking LBs and go to a full time talented 3-4.
I thought I saw some against the skins, I need to rewatch it though.
