Not only is it a few million per year.
Not only is it a huge cap hit if he gets suspended or banned.
It is also all the negotiations to follow.
If the Jones allow Zeke to force the highest pay for a RB 2 years before his contract is up, what will Dak, Cooper, LVE, BJones, Chido, Woods do?
Will everyone start holding out 2 years before their contract is done?
That means Chido and Woods could hold out after the season and LVE the season after that?

If I were Stephen, I would make an example of Zeke's agent.
Make it totally personal.
Curse at him, degrade him, talk about his wife and his mother, do whatever it takes to make Zeke realize that a deal cannot be done as long as he has the same agent.
Force the agent to get fired or else Zekes' career is in limbo.
Set the precedent.
So all other agents know what can happen.

Simply make this statement:
we made Zeke an offer to be the top 2 paid rb.
he did not take it.
that is the last offer.
we are not trading him.
he can play for the cowboys or not at all.
have a nice day.

No, it's not. Teams with suspended players will get a salary cap credit in the current season for the amount of the suspensions.

Holding out and having leverage are two different things. Some players have more than others, and will be treated differently.

How incredibly childish. Good luck getting any agent to work with you after that nonsense.

the second half tells the agents that they will be punished if they go too far.
set the precedence so the agents know they can lose their star client.

Again, nonsense. By the way, there are rules/laws governing agency. You should probably read them.

How incredibly childish.

jerry is not going to collect the portion of the signing bonus.
so huge cap hit.

not childish.
it is setting a precedence so other agents will be wary of pushing too hard.
standard hard *** negotiation tactic

Seems to me, that second part of your post would cause more damage than serve well for the future. Something like that would cause other agents to shy away from negotiating with us. Who wants to deal with someone who's gonna do that when they're trying to get a good deal for their player?

I do agree with the first part of what you say, though.

I'm glad you're not Stephen. He wants to win!

they kind of have no choice.
if their client is our player, then they have to deal with us.
it is creating a reputation that makes others avoid playing chicken with you.

i agree that it is not good for signing top tier free agents.
but this team is not going there anyway.
besides, when you sign the top tier fa, they are already getting their contract.

simple analogy.
dont fold when you hold a full house.
You've never coached. You better win when you have the chance. They don't sign Zeke, they're gonna throw away a great opportunity. Coaches and players will be fired and cut. I may not like Garrett, but I understand the shoes he and his staff are in. Stop dickimg around Jerry and sign Zeke!

Maybe Zeke is a difficult client and not following his agent’s advice.

sure, does not matter.
you cannot directly beat the hell out of Zeke (even though the tactic does do that)
beat the living hell out of his agent so others who follow will know.
set the precedent.
you got dak's agent and cooper's agent watching what happens.

in this situation, you have to be the bully

We didn't win with Zeke his first 3 years. Just in case we all forgot.

20 carries for 47 yds 1 TD against the Rams. What happen to Zeke then?

If anything Zeke help a young QB out by taking away a lot of the stress. But Dak is growing and just in case we forgot we was still losing with Zeke last year!!!

We should go with Pollard and another quality back. Get a vet in here that can still run.

zeke will come crawling back game 11 in the likely worst case scenario.
the team has not taken a win when you can approach.
look at 2017-2018 when they signed nobody worth signing.

they are simply preying on an old man that is jerry
they think he will break
if they break, the cap plan will explode.

exactly get a vet rb in here by trade.
they should have done that and further eliminate any leverage zeke has.
i would even trade a third round pick for a proven back who is decent.

It kind of bothers me how personally people are taking this Zeke holdout. A fan on another forum I'm on was discussing the Colts fans booing Luck's retirement, and described this phenomenon perfectly: "I'm a fan of the team, not the players. I want my team to win, win, win, and if you hurt my team's chance at winning, then screw you!"

This is business, guys. You guys don't care if Zeke gets paid, but Zeke cares if Zeke gets paid. He's using the leverage he has to bargain for a new deal and is working within the confines of his contract (people who say "he's violating his contract! - he is working 100% within the confines of his contract. And people here are saying we should insult his mother in response. SMDH.
