I dont think anyone thinks thy are "out to get us" but its clear they lack objectivity when speaking about the cowboys. I personally dont care either way, but to deny that fact is silly imo.

Where is the "lack of objectivity" - we are a team that hasn't done squat in many years. Not being a believer that we will stay as hot as we've been is not a lack of objectivity. In case, you didn't notice, we still have a pretty brutal stretch of games after the bye.

Agreed. There's nothing better than a person with a bias based on fandom critiquing an opposing view of their team as lacking objectivity.

History of the teams performance aside. This is just one case, I have heard him criticize this team more after a win than say a NE, GB, Seattle, SF, Philly after a loss.

I mean I know some media people have issues with Dallas for various reasons, but did Dallas run over his dog or something he never seems to come across as unbiased. I know dallas has a monkey but I have never heard him be even remotely complimentary unless it was back handed
Florio is my least favorite media guy of all time.
He just makes crap up and turned that into a career.
Was an attorney so he knows how to best attack the system.

All that being said I read that quote as him saying Dallas is too good for Wash regardless of which QB they play.

And yes we will at some point cool off. We arent going undefeated the rest of the way and having another 6 game win streak seems quite unlikely.

That's a far cry from stephen a smith nonsense.

This thread could have been titled 'what is Florio's issue' because I think he is the most worthless, useless person on TV regarding the NFL well Ian Rappaport my have him beat but Florio is just full of nothing to me. Everytime he's on a radio show or on TV I just turn it away. He has nothing to offer.

Seems like a rather innocuous comment to me. Teams get hot and then cold. Others are hot through the playoffs and someone wins it all.

Sort6 of a generic CYA comment to me. Not biased, just not going out on a limb.

Keep winning, and they will shut up.

I think I heard that in Field of Dreams or something.

Yes I do blame them.
What has Philly done?
What had Carolina done?
What had Atlanta done?
What had Matt Ryan done?
Jay Cutler?
etc., etc.,
The media has crowned a lot of people/teams that haven't done anything.

And when those people and teams crash and burn, the media criticizes them too. Jay Cutler is getting roasted right about now.
Atlanta is too because it was thought to be a playoff contender.
I think Cowboys fans are more sensitive to Cowboys criticism but may not necessarily pay attention to criticism of other teams.
Even so, the Cowboys franchise carries more gravitas (so to speak) than other franchises. So when the Cowboys are winning, they're celebrated like no other team, and when the Cowboys hit rock bottom, they're criticized like no other team.
Again, it just comes with the territory. Better to understand it and accept it than have a stroke or coronary when you see it happening.

Pretty brutal stretch coming up? How about the stretch they just got through? What they did in the past has no bearing, its not that or those teams. Those teams were not consistent and those teams also never were 6-1 at this point. The way he presented that comment came off as a shot at the team, almost as if its "expected". Saying "when it matters" oh, im sorry i guess winning tough games in the beginning of your schedule aren't significant enough.

If by cool off does he mean injuries to the O Line? Because the Cowboys aren't going to cool off with this offensive line for awhile. The Cowboys running game and the Broncos passing game are the 2 most dependable things in football.
You can also depend on Dallas defense not getting any sacks.

You can't help consider past experiences when considering future results. That's part of the human observation and human experience.
And it's really not how you start but how you finish.
I really don't see why fans are so upset. If we weren't fans, we'd do the same thing. We knock the Eagles because they have won a championship. And we tend to think that despite their good start, they're going to ultimately choke because of their past. Is that fair? Probably not. But our experiences haven't told us any differently, and we are a species that relies on past experience to understand and respond to our future.

Dallas has the most fans in the NFL probably... but all of the other 31 teams combined still have a lot more than that. Since Jerry has been bungling things for years, Florio has been making jokes about Dallas since he started PFT back in the day, and it is an old standby for him. Just make a Joke about Dallas and a ton of people will like it.

Now, Dallas hasn't been good long enough to stop that. He gave them a compliment about Dallas being the hot team right now, but the backhand comment is because all the fans on PFT are still expecting it not to last.

Really, those fans (and Florio) haven't been watching enough to understand that this Dallas team is different from all the other Dallas teams since Jimmy Johnson. Garrett has been a national punch line, so they don't know what a great job Garrett has done changing the culture in Dallas yet. They are kind of figuring it out slowly... but by the end of the year I think everybody will understand that this isn't the same old Cowboys. This isn't the 2007 team that lost all of it's discipline by the playoffs.

How could they know yet that Dallas is so disciplined? They can't.

Everybody, including Florio will figure it out soon enough though.

We have our words at times, and I will give you credit for a good post!

He tries too hard to sound like a miniature Howard Cosell. There's a few guys like him that have anger issues because they could never actually play sports. The dude with the ears on NFL network comes to mind.

Florio is a Steelers fan.

The one that gets me who is the lead editor at NFL.com and former associate of Florio: Gregg Rosenthal. As much as Mike Irvin roots for us, Rosenthal spends his time dreaming up ways that we will lose.

Just have to learn the various sources.

I got to profootballtalk or listen to him when he is on Dan Patrick Show and he will bash Dallas every chance he gets. Florio is a steeler homer and Cowboy hater #1.

We don't have the recent tradition of winning every year that a team like New England does. So they expect the Cowboys to fall off from the current run.

No big deal. The team just have to prove them wrong.

For sure.

Look..

I have no idea how this all plays out.

But what I do know is..

I plan on enjoying this season and the resurgence of the Franchise whatever happens.

Some form of failure may still be out there..

but smelling the roses right now is important.

I need my fan batteries recharged.

Thanx.
