Hankins is a good run stopping DT. The reason the Giants let him go is because their idiot GM way overpaid Hankins in free agency. They paid him like a superstar DT when he was just a run stopper. They realized he was making too much money and let him go. Not because he’s not really good at clogging the middle, but because you just shouldn’t pay a ton for that as a franchise. (Which is why I wouldn’t spend a high first round pick on a run stuffing DT).

Hankins is still good at stuffing the run and he was on a team (and traded for draft capital) while Linval Joseph and Suh were on the street where any team could sign them, and yet it took halfway through the season before anyone wanted them.

The people poo-poo’ing Hankins and saying how much they wanted Joseph really don’t know about those two players.

Now Suh provides a better pass rush inside than Hankins but is no better in the run game… and Suh picks his spots when he wants to give full effort.

The only issue with Hankins right now is that he’s not quite healthy yet.
Good stuff!!!

To add, Giants added monstrous Justin Ellis(6-2/350) in the off, who is the same player as Hankins but bigger, and Dexter Lawrence has been steadily improving and is the obvious starter. And then they added Rook DJ Davidson in the draft(5th round). Numbers game.

its a collective failure.Failure of the FA to not fix this weakness forever, failure of Quinn to not see this coming and failure of Osa,Gallimore and Bohanna to take the next step.
Bo was a 6th round dart throw. Can't expect much from him.

Osa and Neville are both specifically pass rushers who are weak vs the run. And that was a known fact when we drafted them.

The eagles offensive line completely dominated that group. It’s the single biggest need for this football team. And has been for years
No, they did not. Anybody can score when you’re in the 6 inch line. But defensive tackle I’ve been asking for one for 25 years.

I don't think this line is designed to be super effective in weeks 17 and onwards into the playoffs.

Trenchwork is all about surviving the battle of attrition. Its big bodies against big bodies. That is why size, especially in the lower body, and technique matters. If you don't carry those two characteristics into a season you will get run down.

If I were the team I would be looking at having some dedicated run stuffers on the squad, and making them exclusive to first and second downs.
