It's hard to understand how the Eagles can achieve their high level of excellence and league wide domination year after year. So it got me thinking... how on earth do they manage to do it???

Simple. Good drafting, good coaching. And probably most importantly, good QB play.

In a league with 32 organizations, you'll simply have those that are better than others. Organizations like the Colts and Patriots are the same way. Organizations like the Lions and Cardinals have been wallowing in mediocrity for a reason.

Fortunately, as Cowboys fans, we needn't worry. We have an aggressive owner with deep pockets, a brand spanking new stadium on the way, and good coaching and astute scouts/drafting personnel.

The late nineties and early 2000's was more of an abberation than anything. I would expect this team to be good for a very long time, especially since we have our star QB.

In the years you were at your best you were still only the 3rd or 4th best team in the league.

They have been a quality organization with contending teams nearly every year. It starts with finding a very good QB and having consistency at that position. Look at history and know that I speak truth.

Every once in awhile, you'll have a team rise up for a year, but then fall back again. I'm willing to bet that nearly every team that has had a consistently strong run for a number of years in a row can look at the QB position first and foremost and see the same quality guy manning the position.

You can hate on McNabb all you want folks, but he has been a league MVP and a pro-bowl level QB for a looong time now.

You do realize, don't you, that the Eagle burned corners on the rams that wouldn't even make our second team, right? That will make a big difference in coverage on their receivers. Heck even the highlight catch of D. Jackson, he was covered, the corner just missed the ball. The eagles won't be nearly as open against us as they were in week1. S. Jackson (too many jackson's in this game) is every bit as good as Westbrook but our Dline is way better than the Rams. The ONLY thing that scares me is picking up the Eagles blitz. For some reason they always get pressure no matter how much you gameplan. I say leave McQ or some other huge lineman back as a protection fullback and level the first Eagle thru the line and I mean level him. Hit him like he was the quarterback instead of the other way around. Start putting the fear into the linebackers coming thru instead. It takes a weapon out of the mix but that still leaves T.O., Crayton, and Witten plus MBIII or Felix out of the back field. That still creates mismatches in our favor and leaves protection for Romo.

I'm not considering their game last week. I'm talking about the last decade or so. They haven't been able to get over the hump and win it all but they've been a pretty good team and I'm not getting over that until we smack them around a bit. I'd love to knock them out of the playoffs.

I think your plan is interesting but I don't see them using an OT in the backfield. Hopefully the TEs and RBs will pick up any slack from the OL. I expect our OL will be stout. But the Eagles will come from everywhere not just up the middle. There should be a fair number of corner and safety blitzes which the RB will have to help with.

The key is for the team to read it and react to it properly. If Romo can burn them enough they may abandon bringing the house although Johnson won't let a time or two phase him.

I personally think this will be a true dogfight. I think we can and will win it. I'm hoping we will physically beat them to the point of demoralizing them. I want them to go home knowing they got out physicaled and out played.
