Ok, I'll bite.

Who?
Dak defenders have to stop doing this when folks say the problem here is the Quarterback.

Just because there is no clear option to point to today in late January, doesnt mean there isnt one out there

We couldve said the same thing about Romo in 2016. No one wouldve known that Dak Prescott would end up owning a ton of Cowboys Records at QB.

Status Quo has shown it isnt good enough

Hardman could be a diamond in the rough, but the fa class is very thin, outside of making a play for OBJ. Could try to get Cooks/Juedy again via trade or go for broke and trade for Hopkins. This cannot be a draft priority, need instant help.
You are talking about a ton of picks for Hopkins.

And Hopkins alone doesn't suddenly change the trajectory of the offense. They need more to put around Dak to get him to succeed.

Need a legitimate #2 receiver an fix the run game. Don’t say we have to get Hopkins, but his price isn’t going to be too high as you have to extend him. They acquired him for a #2 and a back

And when Dak wasn't throwing pick after pick? Why didn't the Cowboys win more?

If Dak wasn't throwing pick after pick it'd just be something else...
When Dak doesn't throw picks we usually win, what is your confusion?
And cutting quotes in half is lame.

You can't look at that trade because the Cards had to lower their asking price because they wanted to Texans to take on that bad TB contract.

That wouldn't be an issue here unless you were thinking we are gonna try to trade Elliott or something.

Any team who acquires him, needs to extend him. This is the reason why they want to deal him

-I know many are down on Dak Prescott, but he was never suppose to be a 40 attempt throw guy that can carry the offense on his throwing shoulder. This year he had issues throwing interceptions, which in his past was one of the better QB's in that area. However, when he came back from injury, the Cowboys averaged over 30 points a game, led the league in 3rd down conversions and were apart of the league leaders inside the redzone. Cut down the attempts, believe we will see a more efficient QB. We also have to upgrade the skilled positions around him, which were average at best after Lamb/Pollard.

-Fixing the run game is the first priority. Zeke's cannot return in any capacity. Think the coaches even know it as Pollard was receiving all the carries in the postseason. What to do with Pollard? Not much trend on the tires, but coming off of major injury. Such an explosive player this year and could even be more dangerous if they truly involve him in the team's passing attack. Great running back class this year, where I think franchising Pollard makes the most sense. The front office is going to have to retool the position via the draft. Better running scheme is also needed.

-As for the OL, the rushing offense just wasn't the same after the loss of Terrence Steele, which shows his worth. Many posters made a strong argument that Tyron should return, especially with the health of Steele, which makes some sense. I still would like to see the team add a power G/T in the draft. McGovern is going to be too costly to retain and isn't good enough. Very shortly, Tyron is going to be gone, going to need someone next to Tyler either at Guard or Tackle. This is another area for the team to use the draft. This doesn't have to be a top 100 pick, either.

-You can make an argument, our receivers were among the worse Dak had since he became a starter, outside of that year we traded for Amari Cooper in season. Noah Brown was never expected to be the team's #2 receiver, believe they rushed back Gallup too soon and none of our younger prospects made any impact at all. The passes down field just were non-existent. Shultz is a good receiving TE, but far from elite, but wants to get paid like one. Fixing this area is priority #2, must get more explosive in the passing game.

-Our receivers, outside of Lamb were among the worst in getting separation. Seems like Gallup was always throwing up his hands, rather then fighting for the football, Brown had too many passes bounce off his hands. We need better route runners, need receivers who will go after the football. Now who can we realistically get?

-Team tried to trade for Juedy, Cooks. If OBJ was healthy, he would of been a Cowboy. Hopkins is available but will cost draft compensation and wants a new contract, when the team has to resign Lamb soon. Fa class is weak, draft class isn't considered deep. OBJ fits, but is he healthy enough? I would acquire 1 off of this list and add a player like Randall Cobb again who can upgrade the backend of the group. Cobb makes a lot of sense, especially if MM brings in the WCO and calls the plays.

-As for TE, think they can match Shultz lost production by committee. I would probably add a veteran to the group as they are so young. Also, the TE class is very good this year, even as high as the first round. Think they can save money and be a better overall unit in the process.

-Fixing the coaching, priority #3. We know our OL coach, Philbin was fired and believe Moore might join him. Speculation is that MM's former OL coach may come available and will reunite with him at Dallas. He should be able to run a better scheme on the ground. If that's the case, MM needs to take over the offense and become the team's playcaller. He has a long, successful record as a playcaller, more so then any who is inside the building or available. Allow him to bring in his own scheme and players who fit it. If this is his last season to produce, allow him to have full control.

Offense has to be retooled this offseason, but doesn't need an overhaul, like many believe. Dak isn't going anywhere this season, but he needs to be reigned in and not be the sole reason why we are successful or not. Make him more of a 25 attempt QB, use his legs and our offense will become more efficient. 1 Offensive lineman, from putting together a elite unit, just have to work on upgrading the skilled positions. Think WR gets addressed in fa or the trade market. The rest are more draft priorities, but with deep classes at RB/TE are very feasible.
long arse read but can't argue with any of if. A Very good take and for once with no spewing hatred for any player or coach, very refreshing opinion..I agree with most of your observations and ideas to remedy it.

windows still cracked open for this group as Quinn most likely feels and lets go finish this as B2b 12 win seasons with a 2nd round playoff finish was barrier we overcame imagine 3 straight years of playoffs and maybe a step further?

whens the last time that was done?

This is the key question the organization must answer first. IF you are forced to stay with the QB, then you are very unlikely to advance any further than you have in the past no matter how you strengthen the rest of the team.

So, why wouldn't you look at these years (or at least next year) as a time to trade away any aging assets or one's you don't think you'll resign. Try to maximize your draft capital and cap space so you make moves when you can reset the QB position.
That's exactly my point as well my friend. You summed it up precisely.

IF your absolute answer is to give up/not try options for 2 whole years.

There will be no further post season success by this same quarterback.
With that said...
AT THE VERY LEAST attempt some options as in drafting his replacement this year, playing him some OR all this year so as to force Dak's hand for 2024 that he would not start and most likely waive his no trade clause.
Thus minimizing being held hostage to one year vice two.

Just to surrender to Dak's contract for 2 whole seasons is ridiculous.

But then again, consider the source.
LOL

It all starts with the offensive line. I would keep Tyler Smith, Biadasz, Steele, and Martin. Connor McGovern can play guard and fill in at center, tough decision there. I would trade Tyron Smith. Sign Peters for one more year. I would draft an OG. I would move on from Zeke and Pollard. Davis is decent plus you can draft a good back in the third round. Lamb needs help. Ty Hilton still has some left in the tank. Draft a speedy WR. Move on from Schultz. You have three other TEs who are solid. Dak is fine with a strong running game. But I would draft a QB for the future. Need an offensive coordinator who can make adjustments during the game.

That was my point, blaming Dak's interceptions for losing games is fine, but that's not the issue with either Dak or Dallas not winning SBs.

If someone says Dak is the problem, then the inference is that somebody else could "get 'er done". But can they?

I'm just asking somebody to say how to fix the problem of Dak's not being "good enough", mindless blaming without offering any solution doesn't do anything...

1) Gain a QB scheme that is best conducive to Dak, focus his strengths, limits his weaknesses. Doesn't demand he "elites" his way to win the big games by himself.
Don't care if it's West coast or rhythm time based,.. that also means WR scheme that open more possible plays for him,
Not scheming Dak to run; He’s too awkward and lumbers since that vast ankle injury; scramble slide down/outbounds, or RPO at goal line.
But not letting him JoshAllen/Lamar Jackson - Can he adapt/adjust to McCarthy’s WCO scheme ?

2) Get a scheme to where the RBs are well designed/scheme into the offense- Some here want to revert back to 90;s ground and pound. I especially am not doing that
with one plus RB I have. And we have to know what/how to best use an all purpose back – without beating down to the ground, or under-utilizing him
- Plus very key, to add one or two more very effective backups to spell relief as well. Not just a Malik Davis.

3) We have to drastically upgrade at WR- we need No.2 and No.3,.. cannot gamble that Gallup returns anew. Plus I’d like to upgrade over him anyway.
Nor depend upon an aging Hilton, and no shows ala Tolbert/Fehoko. whether that be NFL draft, FA or trades. I would Not settle on just one WR move either.

4) Have to settle the OL coach/scheme; Likely stay Zone block per McCarthy- but have to established, regarded vet OL coach who knows adjustment on the fly.

5) Decision signing on TE Schultz: not elite Kelce, Andrews Njako, Godert $$, B-tier contract offer or walk Dalton and go with Ferguson/Pendershot, etc.

6) Keep Tyron at LT,.. Tyler at LG, upgrade at center (if available) offer 1 return deal for McGovern, re-sign Steele/check on his reg season status.-Tyron has one more year on his current deal.
Played well and surprisingly stay healthy upon return - Keep him as luxury if Steele slow to recover per ACL.

-Agree with many of your points:

-Running backs have to become more involved in the passing game.
-Would like to add 2 veteran receivers, Beckman/Cooks/Juedy and a player like Cobb or Sheppard.
-Have to create a better scheme running the football.
-Create a passing scheme that is easier for Dak's decision making. Use his legs in the right spots.
-I would bring back Tyron, due to Steele's injury, but not McGovern who is going to be a bigger contract.
-Good year to rebuild RB/TE with deep classes, which is why you don't pay Shultz and keep Zeke. Fine with Pollard on the tag, to see if he is healthy.

Is this the Sheppard from NYG ? if so, .. hell, no i'll pass, he is always destined to be/get hurt and missing several games or out for year..
We need to draft younger, resilient long term guys ala Cedrick Wilson, not these aging, injury prone retreads - they are a last resort (ala Hilton) imo.
One year bargain based, incentive laden deals per post -draft or training camp at the least.
- Lamb
- Beckham or top draftee pick
- Gallup
- Cobb or Hilton bargain vet (wish Dolphins cap-cut Cedrick Wilson and returns here but ..)
- Noah Brown
- Turpin

- If teams are that interested and high on an average JAG at OG ala McGovern, and feel the need to recruit him away in FA, then so be it.
You can replace average OGs per NFL draft and FA, and you don't have to draft high or spend excessive amount to do so.

-We agree, that they have to acquire a legitimate #2 WR opposite Lamb. Rather go the veteran route as the WR class this year isn't deep with talent.
-Since Tolbert busted, Semi hasn't done much either, have to add more depth to the group. This could be a veteran or draft selection. Cobb would be a nice get for this role and he can help with MM's scheme transition.
-Believe adding a future starter Guard is more of a draft priority. Think Farnoik replaces McGovern as that interior backup G/C.
-TE/RB classes are very talented and deep, no problem replacing the likes of Shultz and Zeke.
-Adding another veteran swing will be based on the development of our younger prospect behind the starters.

-Starting WR, more depth either in fa or the draft (I would address this more so in fa or the trade market, then the draft)
-Future starting Guard in the draft
-Depth or future starter at both TE/RB via the draft.
