What is our team identity of our offense on the field?

We are a balanced team that wants to establish the run early and often.

Tony Romo has a lot to do with our identity, once he went down...so did our identity. A lot of teams with an established, franchise QB would be in the same boat.

The Broncos werent

We need to run the Ball. We need a Dorsett, Smith, etc etc.

Yeah, we have had good QBs, and we have one right now...... We just need "that RB", carrying the rock.

At least on offense. I want us to have a run-identity first.

Everyone knew E. Smith was getting the ball. They just couldn't stop it.......................

three yards and a cloud of dust. That's the mentality we need.

I'm not disagreeing with anything other than the Broncos/Peyton comparison.

Peyton Manning was awful last season, worse than Matt Cassell. The identity of that team was their defense, not Peyton Manning.

We all know Romo has strengths, I'm not in the mix to draft a QB @ #4. I believe if Romo doesn't get hurt we always have a chance.

Somehow, say in Game 2 when Romo is lying prone on the field, surrounded by the medical crew, I am going to remember this naive post. Yeah, right-o, "if Romo doesn't get hurt . . . "

Some people refuse to believe that Romo has any strengths.

He has many strengths! But, mate, staying healthy isn't one of them. Add that to his . . . um . . . thin resume re the playoffs, and then we begin to see the weaknesses. I am sorry. I truly, truly respect Romo for his dedication and athleticism. But until he actually stays healthy or advances even 2 games into the playoffs, I will say the weaknesses outweigh his strengths. Or, at the very least, mitigate his successes.

Agreed. It doesnt seem orchestrated or smooth but more helter skelter, confused, and unorganized. Esp when he starts pointing and receivers have that huh look? Its almost like they are trying too hard to mimic payton manning and got carried away with it

Or. Maybe, just maybe the game plan and team philosophy is that bad that it takes Romo the entire time to get the team out of it and into a play that works?

Oh, I understand that he needs to have some playoff success to garner respect from the fan bas as a whole, I was just saying that there are some who will never give him any due for anything. I, for one, am glad to have had him. We could have done much worse.

Well, of course. We are better for having him here. I fear that once his tenure is over he will be known as the second coming of Danny White. Too bad that bad coaching and a cohort of injuries (including his) have so devastated his and his teams' records.
He has fought the good fight and sometimes we lose sight of the fact that he is human -- a very rich human -- after all and our disappointments are his as well...
No, mate, no. That is just something that got in my eye. No need to rush over with scones, tea and posters of Kate Middleton in swimming apparel. I will be fine.

Great question. I've been trying to figure it out since JG got here! The only year we had a winning formula on offense, we went 12-4. And then we let go of the main cog that got us there and went cheap on replacements.

What are we currently known for on Offense

Are we a passing team, running team, ball control- what?

I do not know our identity, back in the 90's it was run Emmitt, swing pass to Moose, hit Novachek on 3rd down, go to Irvin on a deep out on 3rd and long, and hit Harper on a deep post for a homerun.

What is our team identity on offense?

Right now I feel we have no identity- It's like this, Romo goes to the line, calls 3 or 4 audibles and snaps the ball with 1 second on the play clock. We have not one play call as fans that we can sit back in say "oh, here comes the out pattern to Dez" or "here comes McFadden on 1st and 10 up the middle"

Thoughts!!!!

Fellas? What are we, mate, The East Side Kids?

Didn't read the thread but I do believe we are known for having the most predictable offense in the league and possibly the history of the league. Comes from running the same offense since 2007 which is predicated like we are the 90's teams that can line up and run anything whether the defense knows what we are running it or not. No matter who has the title as OC this is Garrett's pathetic and obsolete scheme.

We're a pass team with no tangible success to be considered one! Yet when we decided to be a run team, we won in a big way, only to revert back to being a failure of a passing team that gets its QB MERKED!
