hopefully it will be different this yr

it will once we get a pass-ruser opposite Ware, the player's experience running the 3-4, for a year coming into play, and a FS to allow Roy to play even more close to the LOS

give Zimmer talent, and BIll will let go of the reigns and let him be aggressive

Other than the obvious problems he's had with the OL I would say that our special teams unit is his biggest failure. He preached about his 'hidden yardage' and all but I have yet to see him do anything to actively pursue that yardage.

BP's past teams have always had a decent kicking game and and awesome PR/KR in meggett. Who have we had? Cundiff, Cortez, Price, Crayton, and Thompson who has been a nice suprise but is the only bright spot.

But to his credit he has cleared up the kicking game. Now, about that PR/KR!

There is some validity to that. However, Bill will probably tell you he wasn't hired to develop a QB he was hired to win a super bowl.

Still ,...Henson shoud have played

Our OL was bad before he got here and since he got here. Taking Peterman over Locklear who started for the Seahawks at right tackle in the suberbowl was really bad. Jacob Rogers had injury problems all through college (don't we check those things?). Rivera getting hurt wasn't a fluke, it was an event with a high probability of occuring. Veteran offensive lineman like Rivera are more prone to injury, constantly bending over like that and having massive force applied to your frame takes it toll.

I don't blame all this on Parcells. Jerry Jones probably had some say in keeping Larry Allen longer than we should have. The good old boy Larry Lacewell scouting department was in place before Parcells got here and I think they were still there when we picked Peterman and Rogers. I think Soprano will succeed. Bill has a good eye for young coaching talent and he must think pretty highly of him to promote him to O-Line.

His 2nd year with every other franchise his teams have always been remarkably better. We were worse and still aren't good enough. He hasn't shown his usual brilliance here. He's been too focused on showing up the media.

no it wasn't, we lacked talent on the front 4 outside of Glover and Ellis, who were getting doubled, it was a weak schedule, facing pathetic offenses that helped us, we struggled in 2 of the most important facets of the game, for many years, causing TOs and applying consistent pressure, once our all-out blitz was solved, we were done, and which we improved on them the 1st year in a totally, foreign scheme

just look at the talent on D we've accumulated these past 1 1/2 offseasons, and compare it to the talent we fielded on D in '03...

oh and btw, it's more personnel than it is scheme, regardless what scheme you run, you need great personnel, and which we have, thank you BIll!

I have to agree with the "you need great personnel" part of it, and that they needed some upgrade with the front 7 and the 4-3. But, with Spears, Canty and Ferguson they would have been a much better 4-3.

I think they were better set then to build an awesome 4-3, because they didn't and don't have the 3-4 linebackers. Their best talent in the front 7 was Ellis and Glover and instead of building around them, Bill moved Glover, and has Ellis playing light at the new position. They also upgraded the DB's which had nothing to do with running a 4-3 or 3-4.

I think they will be fine, and hopefully have an absolutely great defense. To say that the change isn't going to take a year or two though, is false. It already has taken a year or two, that they could have been focusing on solidifying the offense which was the problem in 03 - not the defense.

Running the 4-3 versus the 3-4 is more of which one you have the most talent in LB's or DL. They had more talent in the DL. Now Bill has changed it where I guess he thinks he can find the more talent in LB's. I know one thing.

There is a reason that one year only one team ran the 3-4, and all others had converted to the 4-3.

I like BP, but if I had to choose his biggest falure, it would have to be OL. Rogers is a bust. Rivera was way overpaid. Johnson is marginal at best. We spent alot of time and enegy on Tucker and he didn't give much back. Ryan Young lasted a year on a three year contract. His first oline coach was fired. He's had three years to build this Oline and I don't think he's done a very good job.

Absolutely. One can only learn so much holding a helmet to your ear and hearing the plays being called in.

OK, when you get a minute can you cite a couple of examples where this "focus on showing up the media" has effected the team and actual games played?

It's sort of mind-boggling how informed fans would even consider this but then again alot of people - especially cowboy or football not in the northeast - seemingly still don't know what to make of Tuna.

Having watched the guy operate for over 2 decades on two local teams, NE (which is almost a local team given their proximity and division rivalry w/ the Jets) and now the 'boys I would say the media plays absolutely no part in his coaching and day to day operations.

I think that would be my main gripe as well.

I can understand the defense taking longer as he was going with the 4-3 a year longer then he should have.

But no excuse for the Oline IMO.

Don't forget we went with Rob Petittie as a rookie starter, which could have been fine if we had quality depth but since we did not and Flo went down and tucker was inserted....just wound up be terrible.

I think his biggest failure so far was the way he dealt with Antonio Bryant. I understand he had to make an example of someone and that Bryant was being a distraction in the locker room, but did he really HAVE to be traded? The guy who we got from the trade Quincy Morgon is a Pittsburgh Steeler now so he didnt work out and now our team has a real problem with depth at WR....
