What is Romo's problem?

Something is wrong when Romo can't hit a 3 yard out to Witten. I think he is more injured than we were lead to believe. Did you see that play where he scrambled for a couple of yards and instead of sliding, hobbled over like an old man and fell down?

I think it's an interesting metric, but then again I find the fact that Chad Pennington has the highest completion percentage in NFL history interesting as well. Aaron Rodgers is like 0-17 in 4th quarter comeback attempts against teams with winning records is also an interesting one.

I'm not sure any of those metrics by themselves tell us much.

Really? I'd say they each say a lot. You don't think and accurate passer with a weak arm throwing high-percentage passes matches what you saw from Pennington on the field? Or that QBR is a useful measure of the relative quality of a QBs play over the final quarter over the course of a long career? I do.

I'm also not surprised that the GB passing game isn't as effective throwing against good teams when they're playing from behind in the 4th quarter. That's a very good team that's built for getting leads early.

I'd agree that too much can be read into a stat, and that stats can be read incorrectly. That doesn't mean it's easy to reconcile the highest QBR ever with the wrong impression that the Romo era can be characterized by 4th quarter let-downs.

So let's see, Romo is averaging a career low in yards per attempt, implying less risk taking overall. He's completing about 74% of his passes, which would easily break Drew Brees NFL record over a season. He's also thrown one pick through 2 games, putting him on pace for a career best 8 for the season.

Except for the high attempts, it looks like our crybaby fans are getting the game manager they always wanted and they're too dim to realize it.

Romo took a painkilling injection at halftime, but isn't using the discomfort awayn excuse for his poor finish. Of course he won't, but to me it looked like a few balls sailed on him.

I'm of the mindset that Tony's just not good enough to win big with. I think his window has closed entirely. How do you throw away a division title with poor play, then show up to camp complete my out of shape? Back surgery is no excuse for not conditioning.

He's done an admirable job disguising his passion for the game, but it just might be a con job. I do think he would prefer winning, but his play shows fear and his "control" of the offense is not crisp. It's reactionary and blind to the fact his best weapon is facing off coverage against a much smaller db who he's been abusing for two hours. Inexcusable.

I cannot bring myself to question Romo's toughness or passion for winning. Is he good enough or not, has his window closed or not, I don't know. But this guy beat the 49ers with a busted rib and punctured lung, and for the past three years he's been getting pummeled on a weekly basis.

This may just be a norm for him so we better get used to it. Too much wear and tear over the years...a lot of injuries for a starting QB
