What is the best thing for Greg Ellis and the Cowboys

I think it would be best if Greg Ellis shows up to camp with Randy Moss and tells us the Raiders have offered The Cowboys Randy Moss for the rights to Ellis and Glenn's contracts:starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin

you sir, are a genius...

It's best for us to get something for Ellis and allow this guy to finish his career playing in the 4-3. It's also the right thing to do.

I agree with this. I think that we could get more then a 6th or 7th for Ellis.

I also believe that Ellis is going nowhere because we are not interested in trading him for a 3rd round pick. Just my opinion.

I agree. I think Dallas could get better than a 6th or 7th but they are not interested in trading him.

I think it's safe to say that most of the board believes that Ellis has a place on this defense. I think he would be awesome coming in on nickel situations and doing what he does.

But knowing that a guy is clearly not happy about the situation, and forcing him to do something he hates is bad business. Some team will come crying and begging for someone like Ellis, and that's when the Boys should pull the trigger.

Don't be greedy, get a 4 or 5 if need be, or a player.

As reported Greg will be at the start of training camp but is still not happy with his reduced role on this defensive squad. He is on the wrong side of 30 and I'm sure wants to secure his remaining years in the NFL with a new contract. He may not be the perfect fit in Bill's 3-4 defense but good players will make plays in any system. This is not the year to have a troubled player in the locker room.I am sure Bill and Jerry want let him be a distraction very long. It's just a shame because he has been a good player for a long time on some bad teams and this would be a chance to finally get some rewards. How would you handle Greg and if he has to go what are you looking for the Cowboys to get in return?

Ellis needs to shut his mouth and know his role. There are no guarantees in professional sports, and I'm disappointed that he is playing the role of 'cancer' this offseason when everybody thought a certain new WR on this team was going to do it.

Preferably a player that can play now. It's time! and who knows how long Bill will be here.

I think we was a linebacker at miami wasn't he? :laugh1:

Dwayne Johnson signed with Miami as a DT but played both DT and DE while at Miami.

I'm not as sold on the idea. Eventually, I think it will be a distraction but doesn't really matter. Doesn't look as if he's going anywhere.

I say cut him loose and don't let this hang over us. His heart's not going to be in it.

What kills me is the irony of the situation. He's basically doing the same thing TO did with the Eagles last year. Campaigns/Whines to the media, missed workouts, etc. The only thing that will make this go away is if they redo his existing contract.

Where's the media on this one - too busy talking about how TO's going to be a distraction. They Skip (no pun intended) over what's right there in their face with the way Ellis is acting. Again, I say cut him loose now.

If he don't want to be here...ship his bad self outta here! Either that, or let him sit and stew on the bench while all of his teammates are working their butts off and winning him a SuperBowl Ring!

He says, "what does he (Parcells) know"? As if Ellis knows more!

Make him sit if we cannot trade him...see how he likes that!

:star:

the best thing for us and Greg is for him to have 10 or 11 sacks in his reduced role and for him to then shut up about whether or not he'll playing time in the 3-4.

I'd 1st see how Ellis handles his role in practice and preseason, if he isn't getting it, or isnt' showing any signs of getting it, and is still complaining, I'd cut him loose

But to me, it's like asking Bledsoe to play in a bootleg oriented offense. They knew Ellis was not a 3-4 guy and should have traded him 2 years ago, but didn't. It's time to move on and let new guys step up.

but the thing is, if we were running a boot-leg oriented offense, we wouldn't have brought in Bledsoe in the 1st place, so it says something that Parcells feels that Ellis can play, and contribute, in the 3-4

Hell yeah he should pay every cent back. But I don't know if I want a person playing half speed on a team that could be a Super Bowl contender.

but if we follow my plan, which is most undoubtedly Bill's too, let's see how Ellis responds to his role, you never know, he may find out that he's pretty good in it, and the crying will cease, and Ellis will play 100%

:lmao2:wow! what dream world you in? Never has a player mad it this far almost a year and a half and just gotten over it. The only way Greg will stop is if he finds there is no interest in the league. And i'm sure there will be a few camp injuries in a 4-3 system and then he will be impossible

excuse me, but what interest is Greg Ellis exactly getting? now I could see if teams were knocking down on our door, requesting him in a trade, that he'd have a point, so until then, he should shut up and play, and find out if he can succeed in his role

I did not say now! What i ment was if there is no interest and he finds himself with a choice to play or go home. That's a stupid point however because there's no way a 8-10 sack a year guy is going home for the season whitout playing somewhere. Those other teams would be crazy to start now asking about what it would take to get Greg. They will wait until the time is right, just because of his age. It's all about the stolen player and what's the least I can get him for. It would have to be a glaring need to do it now!

The Cowboys need Greg Ellis, and Greg Ellis needs the Cowboys.....the offseason drama was unnecessary, but this fall Greg will show us why he has been one of the better players on this team this decade.....
