What is the best thing for Greg Ellis and the Cowboys

Ellis needs to swallow his pride take the reduced role and play football. Parcells is trying to extend his career. I know he wants another pay day before he hangs 'em up but he is going about it the wrong way by complaining he needs to trust in his coach bottom line.

Could not disagree with this more. Ellis is in this situation because he took this approach to begin with. His error and now he is paying for it. Never the less, it's probably a moot point.

excuse me, but what interest is Greg Ellis exactly getting? now I could see if teams were knocking down on our door, requesting him in a trade, that he'd have a point, so until then, he should shut up and play, and find out if he can succeed in his role

I don't know of any interest and I don't know how we would find out this kind of info if the team did not disclose it. It is against league rules for clubs to speak to players who are under contract. It's tampering. It's also against the rules, I believe to make comment of it in the press. That too is tampering. The fact that we are not hearing anything is not telling, to me. The interest could be there and we would not know it. I do believe that if we indicated that Ellis was on the block, teams who run a 43 would be interested. I know that Denver would be. There starting Ekuban for Christ Sakes.

You're right. Just because no one's hearing anything doesn't mean conversations haven't taken place. It's not in the Cowboys interest to announce we're shopping Ellis, it would just reduce what we might be able to get. And it's not in Ellis' interest to formally demand a trade since that would put him in an awkward situation if a deal wasn't reached. Once camp starts this will probably die down. If Hatcher looks like a monster in camp or a 4-3 team that thinks they're in contention suffers an injury that could change but Ellis is probably coming to terms with the fact that he's here and he'll have to make the best of it.

I agree.
