What is the Greatest Hard Rock/ Metal Song Ever?

I guess it depends on one's interpretation of "heavy metal". Or what defines heavy metal? To me, heavy metal with its many sub-genres incorporates guitar distortion, emphatic percussion, a heavy bass melody to name some. No Lullaby has all of those. With the addition flute, organ, and numerous time signature changes; it lends itself to what I would consider prog heavy metal. But this only applies to a few Tull songs. They cross many genres. All IMHO, of course.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the band, though I wish Anderson would dress with a bit more coverage, when playing live. ;)

I just don't think they quite cross the line to heavy metal.

Wow, that's odd. Killer is on its way to me as we speak. I already have most of the songs, but I don't have the studio version of Dead Babies, so I ordered the CD a couple of weeks ago.
Allow time to listen to the whole album... it pulls you in and won't let you go!

ELP. Saw them at Providence Performing Arts Center. Very intimate setting. Felt like we were sitting in a studio with them. One of my favorite concerts ever.
When I saw ELP in 1974 at the Dallas arena, that seated about 10,000, they had a quad speaker set up, and so it felt like you were in the center of the music.

This gets my vote, to this day is their best album
There is live version of Electric Eye on YouTube. Rob Halford casually walks on the stage a couple minutes into the song. He starts the vocals during his walk. Gets on the stage and just kills it. Guy was amazing in his prime.

I am on a roll with this thread. Queensryche… Rage for Order and Operation Mindcrime…Start to finish progressive metal perfection.

Dave Mustaine always kills it. Here in particular

Btw lots of classic rock being brought in here.

Zeppelin and AC/DC are classic rock imo. Am I wrong?

Heavy Metal started in the 70's, so Classic Rock can sometimes be Heavy Metal.
