What is the Problem with the Cowboys Defense?

The fact that these "low" performing dbs who leave Dallas and perform at a higher level on other teams speaks volumes.

The problem is really a mish mash of issues:

1) Coaching, as has been discussed ad nauseum

2) Offseason personnel decisions:

- Church to Heath is looking like a real bad decision by the front office. There's an article in PFT calling him one of the best FA signings of the offseason given how well he's played. And getting back to #1 above, Carr, Church and Claiborne are all playing better this year than they did in Dallas. That should immediately make you question what the hell is going on in Marinelli's system.

- Nolan Carroll as a vet CB was a clear mistake.

- Putting way too much faith in this idea that Hitchens and/or Smith can hold down the MLB spot for a championship level team. They should have been more proactive in bringing in a better MLB, a short term solution guy.

- Paea is a decent player but once again, they roll the die at the 1 tech with just guys off the street thinking it's always going to work out. It hasn't this year.

Everything.
Coaching, lack of talent, speed, & experience. Defensive line has some pass rushing ability but below average in run defense. Poor LB play just highlights the run deficiency. Secondary play is what really drags the defense into the bottom 3 of the NFL. The worst safety tandem in the NFL plays in Dallas....
