Is it ego that they want their own homegrown players through the draft?

OR

Do they not know how to manage the salary cap?

OR

Both or some other reason?
Or maybe they didn't want to overpay.

They don’t know how to manage the cap and roster building. It’s really that simple. If they did,
  • They would not have had 4 playoff wins in 28 years.
  • They would have long ago hired someone qualified to be the GM.
  • They would employ a different strategy than the same one that keeps giving them the same results.
Honestly, these guys not only don’t know what they’re doing, they are clearly comfortable with the results they get.

If you are a Dallas player up for a second deal and your jersey hangs in the gift shop, you’re getting paid at the top of your position. Eventually. Period.

That’s what they care about.

Still not sure how long they are gonna be able to get away with the sham, but the entire organization is built on a lie, so….

The Patriots signed Rodney Harrison, Mike Vrabel and Antowain Smith during the Brady years, and a few others.

Just saw an interesting thing, the WFT has spent the most in FA the last three years and have gone 19-31-1, and Dallas has spent in FA over the same three years and won the NFCE twice.

They’re egotistical. They’re narcissists.

They. ARE NOT QUALIFIED to run a front office. They don’t know what they’re doing.

Early FA is the worst possible way to build your roster.

We're doing this part right...it's the drafting that's NOT AS GOOD AS THEY THINK IT IS.

Until Hendricks changed his mind all 31 teams besides the Cowboys had signed a free agent. So everyone participates except we usually don't. You don't have to get the most expensive guy in early FA. They could have signed a good rb for 8 million.

Rayne Dakota Prescott. Jerry ran out and got T.O. for Romo and really drafted Zeke for Romo, not Dak. At first, jerry got Dak Coop...but after seeing him collapse...Jerry is in love with Dak and so he's been gunshy.

2nd one. We haven't had even decent salary cap room in forever.

Because they know better than the fans on here about how to run a team.
Especially since all teams operate under the same cap. Much to many fans disbelief that they are cheap. When they are not.
Too bad their player evaluation is so horrendously bad.

I'll say this. I'm not saying the Jones boys are amateurs, but if they were, what would they do that is different? The answer is nothing. Their approach is super safe, as if they are afraid of something.

yes, I didnt say they emulated it well, just implemented "dont build through FA" mantra as a complete strategy and not look for exceptions

Thats right, Jerry and his offspring know dam well how to run a team:angry:

In fact, the record speaks for itself.................28 consecutive years without advancing past the Divisional round...............oh wait,

That was in 2012.

So, because they got burned on one contract 12 years ago, they have sworn off every signing a top end free agent for eternity?

Sounds like a great way to run a team, I guess the lack of playoff success is just bad luck.;)

because they are using the team as their toy and they don't know how to open the box.
