What is true status of team and true direction?

Any new screenplays?
I've done some ghost-writing/consulting for some bigger projects.
That was actually nice, and a few decent paychecks.

I haven't found any spark to anything of my own right now.
Just writing and collecting random scenes at the moment.

Nicely done.

Then you just answered your own question.
Basically you are asking the question as a rhetorical one just to bash Jerry I guess.

So all the Debbie downers and negative Nancies will chime in. :lmao:

I will wait and see how it all shakes out over the next few months. Too much to digest right now, as well, thoughts are all over the place, including what to do with Dak and QB position going forward. Though I lean to getting him signed.

Actually, I was looking for something that maybe I’m not seeing or getting.

Not liking what’s going on ... what’s been going on for too long does not tag me or anyone else a Debbie downer or negative Nancy.

if you look at the history of my posts... I would take Lou Costello as my HC and Bud Abbott QB if it meant SB win #6. I have NEVER had an agenda when it comes to cowboys.

But you go on with your all knowing self.

Hope and optimism are great but in order for me to buy into that there HAS TO BE a foundation.

You can build a house and have hope and optimism that’s it’s a great house. But if built on loose, muddy foundation. What do you have really?

I don’t believe Jones family is solid foundation.
Directionally nothing will change. We will be up and down with no real up. Let’s table the QB for this. I think the team needs a starting LT, 2 new starting LBs, a starting run stuffing DT, a starting S, a CB that can be a 3/4 option, figuring out which CB clown you keep - Lewis or Cheetos, which DE you overpay - 58 or 94, and at least another DT that can be a rotation guy that likes to do the dirty work. Also need to keep Gallup and see if some dummy will take Cooper.

That’s a lot of work. If they did all that maybe you have a playoff team. If not we will be stuck with 6-9 wins in perpetuity.

Basically sane fans of other teams would sum your post up as saying we’re basically almost to the studs now, might as well finish this off and start over. I mean F. F. S. That’s a rebuild.

I don’t care about Jerry’s track record the last 25 years. I know this 26th year is going to be different. Just because.

If you’re asking in a non-rhetorical way,

-Offensive line back healthy with depth. If we re-sign Erving or draft a T in rounds 3-4 I think we have more than enough depth. Knight showed he could be a capable swing and Steele improved over the course of the year. Resigning Looney or drafting/developing another interior lineman wouldn’t hurt either.
-Dak. Nuff’ said.
-Invest every resource on defense. A new DC, 2 DEPENDABLE mid-range veteran FA’s, and 6 picks in the first 5 rounds. If we can do this we can go from terrible to average at least in an offseason. With the O healthy that’s all we need is average plus turnovers.
Roster wise it’s not a terribly long way to go if the decisions are made correctly. It just all hinges on if MM will help or hurt us, can’t win big without a coach in this league. With his history he makes a significant leap in year 2, so we’ll see.
I don't think you are correct on a couple issues there.
1. I am afraid the OL will never regain their dominance. It's certainly not because I don't want them to, it's because the injuries keeping up and are very hard to return to 100% from. The team needs to start drafting a OT in every draft if not using a top pick.
2. Just resigning a team DT is not going to work. This team needs to draft a great DT (probably not available in this draft) or bring someone like Leonard Williams in as a FA.
3. The defense is terrible right now. Besides a huge, strong DT, this defense desperately needs a starting caliber LB, a starting caliber CB and a starting caliber free safety.

8-8 is pretty optimistic given the holes and the contract they are about to dole out for a mediocre QB.
Dak's cap hit is going to go down, but let's not let that get in the way of a nice whiny narrative.

It’s been a rebuild for 25 years in case you missed it. Perpetual rebuild with no real results.

Well assuming we sign Dak to close to $35m per, then we dont have much in CAP space for the next two years (unless he's paid heavily in bonus payments).

This issue is compounded as we dont have anyone to trade that will help in a rebuild.

We've restructured poor and uncertain contracts to free up some short term CAP space to the point that we have the choice to make.

A) Bite the bullet, wait until 2022 when we can at least consider cutting/trading Coops/Zeke/DLaw/Jaylon or
B) Do we further restructure these poor contracts and the aging/health concerns contracts T.Smith/Collins.....in a vain hope to compete in 2021 but extend the years of limited CAP resources.

We can restock via the draft, but with our needs on Defense it will be slow.....Hill, Diggs, Gallimore, Badass all decent rookies. but it takes years to get them as everyday contributors in a championship side.

Some will dismiss the CAP concerns about the CBA, but that increase (TO ALL TEAMS) is just going to inflate the price of all FA's leaving us in the same situation.

The Dak negotiations shows that even the free spending Jerrah is concerned about the financial situation in 2022 and 2023 hence the need for a longer contract.

Outstanding post and comments. Well done.

1. The line may never be what it once was, but a healthy Tyron-McGovern-Biadisz-Martin-Collins is a very good line. The issue isn’t talent it’s can they stay on the field. As of right now everyone is not only scheduled to come in healthy, but will be under contract for multiple years. I am totally fine with taking a lineman in round 3/4, but with the starters slated to come back healthy and paid, there won’t be a O-lineman drafted in round 1.

2. Never said not to draft a DT lol not sure where you’re getting that from. We have to draft a 1T in this draft no doubt. I said draft 6 players on defense and sign 2 vets, how did that prompt you to say that?

3. I totally agree lol again why try to disagree when we agree? A new DC, 2 vet starters, and 6 picks is not enough to include all those positions? You named our needs perfectly and those are all the needs I want them to address with a new DC, vet starters, and a bunch of picks.

We agree on everything other than the lineman I guess.
