The Cowboys would have overcome all the crap they did wrong last night had Garret ran the ball after their last TD. Those 2 three and outs due to passing call blew this game, IMO.

That's what I been telling everyone also.....just does not make any sense.

We are the 3th highest scoring team in the league right now. That is without any help from turnovers or big special teams plays. It's all offense.

The offensive coordinator is the last person we should blame right now.

It is silly to do so.

You can't look at points without considering turnovers.

CL said something in another thread, but it needs to be reiterated here. It's about game management.

The end results suggest the playcalling was balanced at 29 rushes/29 passes (or whatever it was). However, was it necessary to throw a long bomb to Sam Hurd, of all people?

How about the series where there three straight pass plays?

Kill, kill, kill..

At this point, I think my pop-warner playing nephew knows it's gonna be a run. Mixing in an Omaha isn't going to change that.

There's so much blame to spread around that nobody should be absolved of the stink of the dump they took on that beautiful stadium. Garrett, Wade, Romo, Felix, Witten, Ware, Roy (for needing an IV on the Hurd play)... everybody.

I know, but let's be real here, Tony Romo had the worst game of his career yesterday, JG had every reason to trust him, he has in the past and most of the time Tony has come through, he just happened to suck last night.

I don't know about that, tecolote. Romo's six-turnover game in 2007 comes to mind as his worst game.

He got bailed out by Folk, but by far I think that's his worst game.

You got me on that one WG, maybe the fact that we won that game clouded my judgement.

The thing that really bothered me about yesterday was the 3th interception, that was just plain dumb.

If the defense makes one stop on that last Giants' series, Romo gets bailed out again..and the tone of the threads are much, much different.

As the announcers said, he probably didn't even see Phillips because he was so far back.

Obviously it makes him stupid, but he doesn't make that throw if he realizes Phillips is back there.

The Cowboys may not have the best coaches in the league, but I can't blame them.

They're doing their best to coach up this sordid mess of a team that Jerry Jones has assembled.

At some point, you gotta start wondering if Romo is a coach killer. He'll play well or very well the majority of the time. Just often enough so you trust him. But his negative plays are killers.

IMO, the Cowboys need to treat Romo as a more talented Quincy Carter. Make him your bus driver and let him take a few shots when you need them. But don't put the whole game on his shoulders, because he can't handle it consistently.

An even bigger problem with this team: They have a defensive coordinator and an offensive coordinator but no real head coach. What they need is a head coach (with authority over Garrett) to tell Garrett to slow it down. The job of this offense isn't ONLY to score points. They need to play keep away too. The sad fact is that the Cowboys defense is not a reliable unit. They need to be protected and supported by a ball-control offense.

Is that why he wasn't out there on that play?

I was wondering about that.

A good coach and staff would be able to hide the problems better. This staff stinks at changes during the game, no adjustments. How Wade still has a job is crazy.

There's only so many ways to mask talent deficiencies.

I know the general consensus is that the Cowboys are a dormant juggernaut waiting for their switch to be flipped, but the general consensus may not be true.

We may just need to accept the harsh reality that the team isn't very good.

Good post.

And regarding Garrett's trust in Romo, I look back to last week. Tony really struggled in the first half at Tampa. He didn't turn the ball over, but he was inaccurate and struggling. Garrett stuck with him and he responded with the TD passes to pull away. I think Garrett always thinks Tony is about to hit a big one any second. He does fairly often. And then there are games like last night.

As bad as Romo was, I'm more disgusted with a defense that can't get a stop and can't force a turnover.

I agree that this team may not be as good as we think they are but when have you seen this team come out with a great game plan? There's a reason Wade Phillips was with three different team during his career, because he's never won anything with any of them. The Dallas Cowboys are the top show in the NFL, IMO, we shouldn't be hiring re-re-re-tread coaches to run this team. Wade's being billed as a defensive guru yet he can't get this team to dominate. He can't even get them to make basic tackles.

I can't believe he still has a job.

I concede Wade's deficiencies as a head coach, but his history as a defensive coordinator speaks for itself.

Therefore, if the defense is substandard, I'm more inclined to blame the talent than Wade.

I don't think the problem last night was JG. Heck, he ran a balanced offense and he put up points. You draw up plays, run or pass, with the intent to try and spread the field. Just because you have a play that has a guy running deep, doesn't mean that the play goes deep. You run a guy deep to force your safety to stay back. If your LBs are playing off, then you probably run the ball. If your LBs are playing tight to the line, then you probably go to the TE or short WR. I mean, it's about finding the miss match and trying to exploit it. The game plan, offensively was sound. We beat the hell out of the Giants defensively IMO. We just didn't execute very well in the passing game and it cost us.

our inept coaching staff EXPOSES our DEFICIENCIES.

We have a lot of talent, all misused by our inept, poor coaches.

we're not the most talented team in the league but we were a missed FG away from winning a game we spotted the opponent ~ 21 points.

we're not GOOD because our coaching STINKS
