I'm at a 6. Yes, the Giants O is a big steaming pile of poo, but we play Denver, Arizona and the Rams next - and the Rams may have the best offense of that bunch. So we have a chance to get some real momentum heading into the GB game. We have nice young talent, give them some confidence and we should be in good shape.

Yeah it is kinda funny to hear, wait til we play a real offense, their OL sucks and such. Problem is, last year their OL sucked and we couldn't take advantage it.

The D deserves some credit for actually being able to take advantage of that bad OL this time.

I give them a 7 for actually making a difference upfront, something they couldn't do last year against the Giants.

I thought the secondary played pretty great too.

hard to say, that was a TERRIBLE offensive line they just played

encouraged by Anthony Brown, Sean Lee looks healthy / great, Jaylon looks promising, etc.

obviously these next 3 weeks will be telling. anxious to see what Denver looks like offensively tonight

3 suspect Qb's in a row. I like our chances

I'm always careful about projecting anything week one though. There are always mirages to start the season we'll see where we are in a few weeks, but at least this defense has similar talent from top to bottom. Not a lot of outstanding players, but a lot of solid ones.

I mean.. You still gotta give the Cowboys offense credit for keeping the ball and our defense off the field but when our defense had to play they covered well and rushed well.

To an extend but then that is what a football team does offense helps the defense and defense helps the offense. This was no bend but don't break, I think the Giants crossed the 50 yard line 2 times in the game Dallas forced them to punt 6 times in the game and got the int. Defense set the offense up with some good field position as well. Yes our ability to run the ball helps control the clock but defense still forced a lot of 3 and outs to get themselves off the field.

I agree the defense has taken a lot of abuse by fans so now they go out and perform, they get the pressure, they get the sacks and they force the turnover and we hear oh they did not play anyone. NY managed an 11 win season and was in post season last year and beat us twice. You bet the defense deserves some loving. Of course 1 game does not make a season and this defense still needs to show they can bring the same intensity and make plays as they did in this game but today they deserve some credit.

That's fair but if that is our measuring stick then you have to say we are a legit Suerbowl team.

Coming off a 13-3 season, is that not our goal? NFC is stacked with Atlanta, Green Bay and Seattle, so it's far from a given, but those are the teams we should measure ourselves against

Before last night I was at a 3, I am now at a 6 or 7. That's a huge jump for me personally. I saw significant improvement in several areas compared to the last few seasons. The Giants are terrible on O but they still had weapons to cover and no one really killed us. Usually the team plays down to the level of the competition on Defense. Didn't see that last night. Good sign but there will be harder competition soon. I am cautiously optimistic right now.

I'd say a 5. If I didn't control my own hype it'd be a 10.

The pass rush delivered an intense rush that we haven't seen in years, and even though it was against a bad o-line, they didn't do this against this same bad giants line twice last year.

The secondary covered well.

Jaylon Smith showed flashes of his potential. That kung ** elbow to force a fumble and just his speed give you so much to be excited about.

They just beat a team that went 11-5 last year and who had their number in a game where Dak protected the ball but didn't play nearly as well as he's going to in most games.

The defense absolutely suffocated the Giants. If they keep up this intensity and do the same a few more games in a row, then my hype will be unleashed fully.

For me.. We can handle most teams but the elite QB's like Rodgers scare me. Especially when they are mobile.

Matt Ryan is good but i'm more worried about Julio and their backfield then I am Ryan.

I think we can handle Seattles offense pretty easy. No run game, no OL, and a QB that is a little more athlete then he is skilled passer.

Just avoid Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs. That's all I ask. That guy has our number on the big stage.

Derek Carr, Rodgers, and Brady are the only QB's that I hope to avoid.

We've seen this story before. They can do fine in the regular season, but come playoff time, they can't generate consistent enough pressure to bother the opposing QB. Saw it in 2014, and 2016. They did generate good pressure against the Giants, but the Giants have an atrocious offensive line.

No doubt Rodgers is a great player no matter what defense he faces. If the road to the SB leads us to a match up with GB then Dallas will have to step up. To be the best you need to beat the best

If they do they do. It is not like GB has ran over Dallas, both playoff loses were nail biters down to the end. I have great respect for Rodgers and the Pack but I think Cowboys can beat them.

If you stop and think about if the defense did more than hold NY to 3. NY crossed the 50 yard line 2 times. One occasion they end up with 3 points and the next time was on their last position of the game. This was no bend but don't break effort.

On a scale of 1 - 10 what is your confidence going forward?

I'd have to say i'm at a solid 7.

Every unit played well.

Also, when these young DB's get some games under their belt and we get David Irving back we will be even better.

I understand ODB didn't play but I can't imagine 1 player that isn't a QB helping them move it up and down the field better.
they will have their ups and downs. I expect to see more of Jaylon and more confident Jaylon and that's going to be huge. The DL is going to be game to game, against Giants they had success, but Giants are very average OL.

they will depend on offense to play ahead so it makes playing defense easier.

but, with all of that negativity aside, I think its a better defense than last year.
