On a scale of 1 - 10 what is your confidence going forward?

I'd have to say i'm at a solid 7.

Every unit played well.

Also, when these young DB's get some games under their belt and we get David Irving back we will be even better.

I understand ODB didn't play but I can't imagine 1 player that isn't a QB helping them move it up and down the field better.

10.

Marinelli.

Irving and Moore returning.

This group just will continue to get better.

What some called a off season gamble will be proven to be a turning point.

Already starting to wonder, if no injuries, who gets let go on the return of D.Moore and Irving.....

Tapper showed well, as did Benson.........gonna get crowded in the DLine room

Not sure if the kid from G.Bay was active/ or played........

I have faith in Marinelli. Always have. The guy can just coach. As I just stated in the other thread, the Gents offense is just awful and it's been that way for awhile. No running game, etc. but 3 points is outstanding for any team on any day!

I would say I'm at a 6 for now. But that's good enough until the suspended guys get back.

The coaches and the Front Office rolled the dice letting some key starters on that defense go in free agency.

The decision to let high priced vets go and bring in a bunch of rookies hasn't hurt us thus far. Awuzie was the only rooke DB I saw out there last night in spot duty in the 2nd half. They are bringing the rookies along slow and giving them a chance to develop.

Taco got some snaps early in the game, but we have such a big DLine rotation he hasn't made an impact yet. It was awesome to see the YEAR TWO guys we've been waiting for finally get out there and show what they can do. Jaylon Smith and Charles Tapper, they are like redshirts in college.

Once Irving and Moore get back from their suspensions, this defensive front should be even better. Hopefully we're sitting on a 4-1 or even a 5-0 when Moore comes back.

Based on the results 9. Based on the opponent 6. Barring injuries they should grow.

5. I am not totally confident in the defense nor am I totally negative about the defense. Right in the middle at this point.

That Giants O is putrid.

Let's see them against an offense that can actually run a bit and move the ball. I've been burned before thinking something about this team is better than it actually turns out to be.

I give them a seven (7) rating.

Please note our defense played a terrible offensive line.

But I see the defense only improving due to the speed and talent at the secondary and LB position (Smith). Dline may be better due to Tapper's speed, Collins, Taco and a healthy Lawerence.

The true test will begin on October 1st against the Packers.

My confidence is much higher in this group but I think even more important is their own confidence in themselves. Rod will keep them towing the line I have no doubts about that. Guys did an outstanding job and while some seem to down play it I think any time you can keep and NFL team to 3 points you have done an outstanding job

I would say 7 with the arrow pointing up. They should get better as Smith and other young players get more experience.

High... as has been mentioned we have key components that will be returning, young DB's getting better, Jaylon improving and gaining confidence etc.. A

I'm in limbo.

Let's see how it goes against some good offenses that can run the ball.

I mean.. You still gotta give the Cowboys offense credit for keeping the ball and our defense off the field but when our defense had to play they covered well and rushed well.

Let's see Howe Aaron Rodger does in week 5.

This was game one. I don't think you can ever tell too much about a team until at least game three or four of the regular season. But I get really tired of the way people insist on moving the goal posts for this team. Before last night it was all about how the Giants had added a slew of weapons for Eli to throw to and how the stupid cowboys let a bunch of defensive starters walk in free agency. Now it's, oh, ODB didn't play. The Cowboys took advantage of a crappy offensive line. Let's wait and see what they do against a real offense. And when the team continues to stifle the run and hold teams under 20 points people will just keep on kicking the can on down the road. I think it's time to consider that maybe, just maybe, Jerry, Steven, Jason, Rod and the rest of the coaches know what the heck they're doing.

I will reserve my judgement until they face a real offense. That will most likely be weeks 5,9 and 10. You know, looking at the schedule, there really is only four teams that have competent offenses. I am not including Wash and Philly in that BTW. So, KC, ATL, OAK and GB could pose problems.

I am happy with last night's performance but their offense is absolutely putrid, not going to get too excited yet.....

6.

The thing I don't have confidence in is our ability to stay healthy on defense. We have suffered quite a few injuries on defense every year under Garrett.

What I am confident in is Marinelli's ability to keep the defense somewhat competitive even with injuries.

I hope Kellen Moore is one spot, then I look at Benwikere/one of the RB's.

Yeah it is kinda funny to hear, wait til we play a real offense, their OL sucks and such. Problem is, last year their OL sucked and we couldn't take advantage it.

The D deserves some credit for actually being able to take advantage of that bad OL this time.

I give them a 7 for actually making a difference upfront, something they couldn't do last year against the Giants.
