Of all the trick plays I ever saw, the best had to be the Rugby Return by Cal. against Stanford. That was Amazing. I also enjoyed the one in the playoffs with the Bills and the Oilers. Kick off return play where the ball is fielded and then passed back to the sideline for the wing to take it up field. That was pretty good too.

The play ran against us that hated to see the most was the old Kneel Down play. Cunningham ran it against us when that sorry SOB Buddy Ryan was there. Hate that damn play to this day.

My favorite play is.....Cats! :lmao2:

Seriously, it's either.....

1. QB throwback. Qb pitches the ball to RB who fakes a sweep and turns a throw to a wide open QB.

2. Sleeper. WR acts as if he's subbing out of the play but never leaves the field. Usually he isn't covered and goes for the score!

I don't call the last one a trick play. I call that rubbing it in a teams face. The game was over with sec on the clock and Philly in command. That was the biggest chicken **** play I have ever seen.

The hook and lateral is great... Although it never works. Unless you're the Dolphins playing the Chargers. :)

How about the double reverse throwback to the QB... Like Nebraska did with Crouch to beat OU a few years ago. ;)

I have to say that Dolphins/Charger game was one of the best games I have ever seen. Heck I was exhausted after that game. :laugh1:

Yep. Never forget the look on old Kuchenburg's face when that one was over.

Easily the best Pro Football game I've ever seen.

I can't forget that highlight of Bert Jones hiding the ball while the rest of his team pretended there was a mad scramble for a fumble. He casually sauntered over to the ref and put his arm around him and both watched the pile for a moment together. Then Jones ran into the endzone.

Greatest trick play ever in the first football game I ever remember watching, 1991 Holiday Bowl between A&M and BYU. Bucky Richardson tosses the ball on a sweep, then runs out and catches a wide open 20 yard touchdown pass from the RB.

didn't landry do this?

this play
flea flicker
halfback option pass

Winslow being helped off the field because of exhaustion I think said a lot about that game

My other favorite trick play was when Michael Irvin came out of the motel with a hook... wait, that's a totally different type of trick. My bad.

I thought I remembered more than one time that Danny White caught a TD pass from a RB and I was right:

1. 1983 15-yard TD pass from Ron Springs

2. 1985 12-yard TD pass from James Jones

He might not have been as great a QB as Roger but he was a better receiver. :)

I don't mean to bring up the Bruce Coslet tenure, but I loved that play where the TE would fall to the ground on a block while the QB rolled out in the opposite direction drawing pursuit then the TE would always be wide open.

I remember during Darnay Scott's short tenure here he scored on a perfectly executed fake cut block/throwback pass... It is a pretty nice misdirection play, I'd be interested to see if it would work now, with the attention Witten gets.

Definitely the flea flicker. I think we ran one on third and short in overtime against the Skins a few years back, to the Rocket. It was sweet.

Yeah that was a 76 yard Aikman to Ismail bomb, but it wasn't on a flea flicker.

Yep, Landry was the HC then and called all the plays. Both plays were planned and were excellent calls inside the 20.

Flea Flicker..

But, I also loved that "Fake" punt when Coakley went what? 50 yards running? I believe that was in 2004..
I was just looking somewhere else since we were punting, and all of a sudden.. Boom!

It was great..
