What it would cost to bring back Dowdle

Meh, I’d upgrade and wouldn’t think twice about it.
Agree. Yes, he was a 1,000 yard rusher and had a good ypa but he isn’t an explosive game changer. His longest run last year was 27 yards. We need to draft a RB in rounds 2 or 3 and offer Dowdle a reasonable contract around $4-$5 million a year. Dowdle strikes fear in absolutely no one. Teams aren’t bringing up a safety to try and shut him down.

There will be better backs available in the draft than Dowdle and more cost effective, as well. He's served us well but will be paid far more than we'll have to pay a really good RB from the draft.

This report means Rico is hitting market, and already has a deal in place for more money than Dallas will give him. $6M is the starting point for Rico, and in a draft like this Dallas should let him walk.

Rico is a good RB, I'm not going to downplay his value. Just watch his highlights and see the vision, cuts, acceleration thru the hole, hands, blitz pickup and finish of runs with violence. Glad Rico is getting his paper, finally.
Well, this is his best chance to maximize his earnings. I mean, he far outperformed any other year he's been in the league and will be looking to capitalize on it.

I prefer not to pay for a possible one-hit wonder. I would explore if someone like Nick Chubb would be willing to sign for the same amount, knowing his coming off a down/injury year and then look to draft a back to compete/split time with him.

Dallas more likely will sign a cheap vet, then get a back at some point in the draft. A Ty Johnson would not be a surprise.

Laughing my *** off at all the nitwits here that complain about our lack of running game. Then Rico balls out with our terrible OL and gets the not worth keeping treatment.
He likely outplayed his value to this front office. He would be worth keeping to them at $2-$4 million, but not at $6 million. I'm not sure he'll get that much, though, because last year was his only year of top production.

Don't expect us to sign any outside FA for $6.4 million. We'd much sooner give it to one of our own.
IDK....after RB, LBer is our highest priority. Greenlaw played at an ALL-PRO level a couple of years ago before his injury. He's only 27 and his former coach is on staff. Seems like a nice fit to me, especially for only $6.4M

Did you see his stats in 2022 and 2023 ......a tackling machine

He is a nice fit, but we don't pay outside FAs that much. Jerry essentially has said that we're not going to use FA to fix the team, so I'm expecting business as usual. Last year, our highest earning outside FA was $2 million. I expect it to be no more than $3 million this year.

Instead of Greenlaw, I do think someone like Jack Sanborn from Chicago could be a possibility in that range. However, even he may end up too expensive for our tastes. Kendricks re-signing might be the most we can hope for, because we know he'll be fairly cheap.
