Yep, one season where he averaged a massive 63 yd per game. Truly legendary.I hear that, not at the rate he's probably going to be looking for after having one GOOD season!
Great points.I get it that contracts just keep going up & it's hard (especially for those of us who have been around awhile) not to cling to old ideas of what contracts should be. I like Rico well enough & think he has earned a decent contract. What is the right $ range, honestly not sure.
But let me just pose a few questions \ thoughts.
- Can we all agree RB's have been underpaid for some time now?
- Last year Rico had 636 snaps. The offense had 637 snaps. Rico played special teams. So, he's taking the pounding.
- He produced
- Even last year, he made about half a Million less than average starting RB. He made 1.255M. I mean they paid Zeke $2M last year.
- If you were him & were going to be counted on to be a starter, would you sign a contract to take all that beating to be one of the lowest paid veteran starters on the team?
- If I were him, I think $4M would be my floor. Would feel pretty good at $5M especially if guarantees are good.
you couldn't tell jerry that he broke every cowboys record near and far! lolYep, one season where he averaged a massive 63 yd per game. Truly legendary.
Not really. Most rookies don’t know protections and we need two so why not have one experienced to go with a rookieNot sure but there's plenty of Rico Dowdle's in the draft. He had a good year and id like to keep him but if he gets a decent offer from someone else its ok to let him walk.
I’m just not interested in overpaying for Dowdle if they do fine but we got enough overpaid dudes on the roster. If he’s reasonable then yes.Not really. Most rookies don’t know protections and we need two so why not have one experienced to go with a rookie
Sounds nice but regardless of its Dowdle or someone else I think they’re paying 5m to a vet.Draft 2 backs. Spend money on linebacker, corner, receiver, dline, and oline.
Yup!Not really. Most rookies don’t know protections and we need two so why not have one experienced to go with a rookie
I thought the same thing, but with the cap at $280 million it's fair. He's proven he can be a starter.6MM a year?
LOL for the love of all that’s holy.
