They have built an outstanding roster.

Really? I would sincerely hope you are right, but I don't think so. For example, tight end is strong?

After Schultz you have 2 rookies, totally unproven, a 1 year guy, a 3 year guy with a grand total of 6 targets and one on injured reserve, who himself has only 37 receptions.

That's not a strong group, if you think so I would admire your optimism but that's about it.

Hopefully Sprinkle or one of the rookies will surprise but I'd not count on them at this point....

After three preseason games, I have concluded that this off-season has been one of the most interesting in decades. First, and most obvious, we actually had a pretty good draft. We bring in Sam Williams, Tyler Smith, DaRon Bland, Jake Ferguson, Jalen Tolbert, and Devin Harper.

I like all of those guys.

Williams will be a force on defense. And I'm for keeping him at guard, but wherever Tyler Smith plays, I think he'll do well for us. I can't remember who it was, but a Wisconsin fan was talking to me about Ferguson, saying, "I can't wait to watch him on third and Ferguson." That's exactly what I see: a 3rd down machine. And I think Jalen Tolbert and DaRon Bland both end up being great players for us during their careers. And I think both contribute this year.

Thanks for sharing ...

You may want to add your 53 roster to the recent 53 roster prediction thread that's been created.

I'll add these thoughts:

- There’s no roster competition with Golston vs Ridgeway.
Chauncey makes it off draft status alone per 3rd rounder. He’s being used as a Crawford like utility guy both nickel DT and DE.

- I’d like to see Tolbert with Dak. Backups had issues finding WRs and accurately getting them the ball.

- Bland got beat deep, and needs work on ball location but showed a quick forget memory and kept competing instead of slumping

- Dunno if Hendershot has top athleticism and haven’t research his in-line blocking , but he looks like he has movement skills and knack for pass game.
With very durable Schultz, and upcoming Ferguson, he likely won’t get much time in 12 personnel set. But if this is indeed last hurrah for Dalton ?
Speaking of TEs, McKeon seems like he gets hurt easily, for a spot player, he’s always nicked and banged up. Makes me think only 3 TEs,

- Griers’ game seems more quicker than Rush, he has mobility that Rush does not, but he’s wildly inaccurate.
I am one of those that thinks he just hasn't shown or done enuff this summer to clearly earn a replacement vs Cooper Rush.
Despite less surround talent and vs lesser opposing com, Nooch actually outplayed Grier. Rush plays the very safe game, to a fault.

- I think club knows Rico D. longer/more SP familiar than Davis, but I still feel that RBs a dime a dozen with both of them. - No way to 4 RBs on 53 roster.

- Given that Harper is athletic, and specialist oriented.. and our LB unit has durability issues ala Barr, LVE and Gifford,
and Harper is a young upcomer, I’m all more for keeping Harper.

- Izzy M. is one that totally turned my mind into not making it at begin of camp, to yes indeed convince at preseason’s end. He’s showing ball hawk skills and field range
and more physical than supposedly was per college.

- Wright does not defend well and adjust when he has turn and go up field, loses positioning and the ball in air. May play much better playing forward than in reverse.
INT was a freebie, thrown right to his chest.

- I would have like to see Matt Wally with 1st stringers, too bad he’s been hurt most of summer. Ball maybe rookie like but it’s been a bad rookie campaign.

Apparently, Golston has shown position flex. Quinn seems to like him, so that’s good enough for me. What has Ridgeway shown, besides big, aggressive white guy?

That he's got tires for feet, and his legs churn like molasses?
Man, you seemed to be in quite a minority group, because i have heard no one in upper media talks that has seen anything from Ridgeway this summer.

One thing both candidates have are they may be both Quinn related picks, and Cowboys may seem to be hesitant in cutting their draft picks year or two.
Ridgeway may actually make the team off pure draft status alone.

Not play status, but draft status.

I can 't make any logical sense of why they would do that, though. They've got plenty of young guys if they want cheap players. Even Watkins is better than Ridgeway, and he'd be pretty cheap if I remember correctly.

To me, it's a numbers game. If we didn't have several players more talented than Ridgeway, I'd say, sure, let's keep him. But we don't.

But it's important to remember that the team will do what they want to do, regardless of what anyone here thinks. So they may keep Ridgeway. But if they do, it'll just mean that they're thinking with their egos and putting their egos above the team.

And . . . I also liked how Bland bounced back after getting beat, because that happens to everyone. It's about how you respond.
