I think this game is more about us. I think what you laid out based on last year and without Chubb will be pretty indicative of what the Browns are again this year. Our issues and how we overcome them will likely decide the game. Will our new OL perform well against a tough defense and a player of the year candidate? Will we be able to run the ball? Willl we do a better job defending the run against a team that wants to run the ball? Can we get a pass rush other than Micah? How will our corners do with Diggs coming off a major injury and a rookie thrust into an NFL role week 1? Will our revamped LBer group perform as well as we are assuming and in particular with bigger bodies in front of them hopefully keeping them "clean"

I think the Cowboys will decide whether or not they win this game more so than the Browns will. Very excited to see how we do
Great questions. We’ll find out a little after gm 1 but it typically takes 4-5 games to see how teams are gonna look.

Other than being a Cowboys fan with bias...why?

Serious question
All I said was I think we have the edge if both team are at full strength. Not confident as others are especially on the road.

I think Browns offense sucks. I think our offense should be solid.

I think our defense is solid. I think their defense is solid.

Watson has been ehh.
Chubb is out. I think Ford is more than capable of running all over us but no Chubb is solid for our team.

We are gonna find ourselves in a lot of games this year where our edge is at quarterback and he needs to show it. Dak vs Watson is the one edge we do have.....until Bland gets back and Diggs gets healthy.

I'm concerned with our young offensive line against their defensive line for sure.

Heard a variety of reports that mention their somewhat injured o-line and that we also would not be facing their RB1 Chubb in week one.

And that when I watched a few of their games last year they played a physical brand of football.
So hopefully we can match their physicality.

And that their last year's OL coach Callahan had gone to Tennessee to coach with his son. That's to our benefit too as we well know how good of an OL coach Callahan was here. He is one of the best OL coaches out there.

That's 'bout all I got.

Means nothing.
It means nothing but we’re not underdogs very often, especially in our openers. The Cowboys aren’t thought of as highly as they have been after that playoff debacle and their lackluster off-season. It’s not like the Browns were anything great last season. Can’t remember the last time we were underdogs against Cleveland. I believe when they blew us out in 2020 at home we were 3.5 favorites. There’s going to be a meltdown on the board if the Browns win and Amari Cooper goes off, out producing CeeDee.

i could be wrong but i think they're over-rated.
it'll be a close game...they have some talent.
but i think we're the better team.

The browns are the AFC cowboys. They look good on paper but tend to fall short.

Assuming Cleveland has a better running game, I’d say 19-17 Cleveland. I don’t see Garrett or Parsons allowing the opposing QB the comfort they both need in the passing game. If Dallas does better in the run game then I’d predict a win. I just don’t think they will.

We will be facing an NFL team game one on their turf.... Literally if you don't notice college football without preseason all the upsets or the closer games than they should be in game one??

Hardest game to predict all year is looking at each teams first game out that's yet to find an identity and establish themselves so it could be a crazy game it could be lopsided it could be super close could end up being an overtime etc..

Typically, not predictable.

let's just win, good bad or ungly ..so many changes and ????

considering our fan base claims jerry did nothing to improve the team, historically bad offseason, historically bad run game ranked 32 by these experts, washed up cheap Fas, and injuries...

going by that we lose 31-19..

i mean remember the giant game last year pre week, pre game was supposed to be close the NYG were supposed to be improved and what was that score again?

reality ,not much of that true we win 27-19...;)

Glad Chubb won't be there. I think he is missing the first 3 to 4 games I read. Not glad for why he is missing it. Because he was actually fun to watch.
I don't know how he comes back from that. When I saw the video I was like... career over. But, with stem cells etc. these days who knows. He was/is an amazing back though.

That being said... Watson really hasn't lived up to a fraction of what they paid. I expect he will be gone soon from there. He definitely doesn't scare anyone.

But, their defense should still be tough! So they will get pressure on Dak.

Finally! Real NFL football starts this coming week. The 2024 Cowboys season starts next Sunday in Cleveland against a browns team with plenty of strengths and plenty of question marks too.

Here is a look at the browns strengths and weaknesses, along with question marks going into 2024:
STRENGTHS
  • The browns have an outstanding defense. It was ranked #1 in 2023 in total defense, giving up only 270 yards per game.
  • Their defense was especially tough against the pass last year, allowing a league low 57% completion rate for opposing QBs, and finished 5th in sacks with 49.
  • DE Myles Garrett was the NFL Defensive Player of the year in 2023, is a 3x first team All Pro, and continues to be outstanding as a pass rusher and overall disrupter, getting 14 sacks last year, and had 16 sacks each the previous 2 seasons.
  • The browns played very well at home last year, going 8-1 in their stadium.
  • The browns were 11-6 last year despite losing their starting QB for the season in week 10 with a shoulder injury, and their top RB for the season in week 2.
  • Despite not having a good QB situation last year, former Cowboy WR Amari Cooper had a very good season last year with 72 receptions for 1,250 yards, and made the pro bowl.
WEAKNESSES
  • The browns offense has been mostly mediocre the last two seasons. In 2023, the browns were ranked 16th in total offense, and 14th in 2022.
  • Their best RB Nick Chubb suffered a serious knee injury at the beginning of the season last year and will not be ready to start this season. Without Chubb, the browns only averaged 3.9 yds per rush in 2023.
  • The browns were terrible on 3rd down conversion % last year, finishing 29th with a paltry 31.6% 3rd down conversion rate.
  • Deshaun Watson will probably be very rusty having not played since last Nov and having a surgically repaired throwing shoulder.
QUESTION MARKS
  • What will Deshaun Watson be able to do after that major surgery on his shoulder last year?
  • Without Nick Chubb to start the season, will the browns be able to run the ball effectively? (They couldn’t last year)
  • The browns (like the Cowboys) have a mostly rebuilt OL. Will it be able to be effective?
  • Will the browns maintain their recent home field advantage after going 8-1 last year at home?
The opening week of every season always has surprises. This should be a very fun and interesting matchup. The browns have an outstanding defense but their offense has been just average. Hopefully the Cowboys can generate some offense and the defense can show some grit too.

The regular season is here!
I’d feel a lot better about this game if we had Bland. I feel it’s going to come down to our pass defense without Bland and how Guyton holds up against Garrett. If Guyyon can slow Garrett down and Carson can hold his own I feel we can win. I’m not scared of Watson since his play has kind of declined and he’s coming off of injury. I am very scared of playing a road game on grass. I’m pretty excited for this game cuz we will learn a lot about our team.
