Shutdown Corner's preseason Power Rankings...
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...-bay-packers-defense-holds-key-145953106.html
4. Green Bay Packers - The concerns about the offensive line are getting very serious.

18. Dallas Cowboys - Get ready to enjoy Jason Garrett's lame duck season.

Seriously, what sense does this make? At what position are the Packers not inferior to the Cowboys, other than a slight advantage at QB? Think about it, top to bottom, all the way down to the place kicker, I give the Cowboys the advantage over the Packers this year. But look at the discrepancy in rankings, ridiculous.

It's all coming together this year -- there were a number of things that held us back last year, injuries in the middle of the defense and the inept offensive line being the two primary issues (to put it mildly). But those issues no longer exist and when it comes right down to it, is there ANY team that you'd be worried about this year, provided we can bring a relatively healthy team to the party? Not me, I think we're SB bound.

Packers have a better chance to make the playoff because Aaron Rogers is god. The Cowboys havent shown anyone anything over the past few years except missing the playoff. It's not fair but it is what it is

Well, do you expect anything other than that from the media who really don't even pay enough attention to know what is going on?

It's not really a matter of being fair or not. It's a matter of dwelling on the past and not doing a remotely good job of analysis on their part.

Offensive line - Cowboys > Packers, especially since their LT is gone for the season now
Quarterback - Packers > Cowboys -- I am Romo's biggest fan but Rodgers is maybe one of two QBs I would still take over Romo
Running Backs Cowboys > Packers
Wide Receivers - Cowboys > Packers
Defensive Line - Cowboys > Packers
Linebackers - Cowboys > Packers
Secondary - Cowboys > Packers
Place Kicker - Cowboys > Packers

I don't mean anything malicious by this ... but I will have some of what you are smoking.

I expect the Cowboys to be ranked low even tho thats about 3 notches lower than they've performed the last 2 years but a 4 for the packers is probably 3 notches higher than they have performed.

Are you joking? You must be

The packers have consistently been contenders..they've earned their dues...the cowboys on the other hand have shown absolutely nothing. What on earth makes you think anybody outside of this forum here would rank Dallas anywhere near as good as GB?

No offense to Romo, I love the guy and I'm definately a fan, but there is more than a slight advantage to the Packers with Rodgers. Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL, IMO, and he's definately better than Romo.

Wonder if the Packers rankings will rise even more after this....

Bryan Bulaga tore his ACL during the Green Bay Packers' "Family Night" scrimmage and is almost certainly out for the 2013 season.
Bulaga was expected to transition from right tackle to left tackle.

Winning takes care of all of this kind of stuff.

Just Win Baby!

Exactly. They went 11-5 and not many people will remember SF shredding them on the ground for over 300. But if they come up with a little better running game and learn how to stop the teams that run good they're as good a team as any.

Perfectly fair. Until Dallas proves itself more than just preseason hype, this is to be expected.

The difference is, real needed changes have been slowly made. This team is becoming less and less dependent on the wizardry of Romo.

Time will tell.

These rankings used to mean a lot more before I stopped caring about them.

This makes the same amount of sense as the thought that a fan failing to take it one game at a time having some bearing on the team's success or failure on the field. I guess the fact that the Packers have been successful in years past will undo the torn ACL their player recently suffered that out him out for the year and magically "undrafted" Frederick too.

Jerry has surrounded himself with football people, all he has to do is stay the heck out of the way. We should be able to show up against anybody.

So the Cowboys shouldn't be ranked higher in a forecast until after they've actually done it? What kind of forecast is that? That's like predicting rain after it's started falling. That's the problem -- too many publications go with what has happened in the past and are not willing (or are too lazy) to actually do the work necessary to make astute predictions of future performance.

So if they improve in one of two fundamental aspects of offense (passing, rushing) and one of two fundamental aspects of defense (stopping the pass, stopping the run), they're as good a team as any? Good to know.

None of it makes sense. Just like Rich Gannon saying he would take a 1st year starting QB over Tony Romo in Russell Wilson. Just for fun, Romo threw it 255 more times and had a better completion %. Let's not forget that Wilson had a way better run game and arguably the best defense last year. But, it just makes sense to take Wilson over Romo. Look, I like Wilson a lot, but let's see how well he would do without a top ranked defense and running game.
