What kind of TE do we want for this offense?

I comp Kincaid to a Cris Cooley type of H-back/TE.

Mayer to a young Witten, though Mayer has shown much more ball skills/catch radius
It's strange how the Mayer and Musgrave are possibly the least considered, even though they project to be the 'all-round' options.
I suppose the standout elite traits of Washington and Kincaid somewhat mask and deficiencies.
Is there a chance Washington's receiving skills are down graded just because of lack of tape more than lack of production.

Washington lacks separation skills and is a slow twitch athlete. More of a blocking TE, albeit a very good one. Should be an excellent red zone target.

I’d love to add a real blocking TE, but those are almost impossible to find.
Mark my words, though, whomever drafts Georgia’s TE Washington will see an immediate improvement in their running game. This is a guy who won’t just help vs DEs. He will dominate most of them by himself. Many experts believe if he wanted to put on weight, he could play OT. He’s athletic, but a brute of a blocker. They just don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
Washington is like having a 6th OL right out of the gate, but he will go earlier than he should IMO.

the guys we already have. Lets not waste a pick on yet another TE when we have other needs. If we MUST take a TE lets at least wait til rd 5. Maybe Will Mallory or Kuntz.
I’m hesitant on taking a TE in the first, but don’t see the need to add another late 5-7 round TE. If we are trying to improve the position without taking one in the first it would probably need to be in round 2-3.

You might well have a point about Washington, although, I'm somewhat uncertain his receiving skills are good enough to merit a 1st round pick without developing him further in that particular role. There's no question that his blocking would likely be exceptional enough to serve us nicely in the area of helping our running attack to find success. There's good reasons to believe his physicality stands out as something special to be admired.
If there's anyone who can do it, it's Lunda Wells, and perhaps McCarty.

IMO, maybe outside of Quinn, now that Kellen Moore is gone, Lunda Wells is probably the beast coach on the team. I would suggest our fans go watch his interviews on YouTube. Guys like that are the best kind of coaches. They're in it with you, not over you. At least I always played hard for guys like that.

He's simple-minded, yet fundamentally sound, pragmatic, and most importantly effective. If we draft Washington, I'll bet $500 that he has 700 yards by his second year.

I'd take that bet. He won't beat out Fergie. And prolly not Hendershot. Most likely, he'd be a short yardage/red zone specialist, maybe catching 15 or so passes.

One who can block like an extra o-lineman.
Another pass catcher just means more passing.
More passing by this QB equals more playoff losing.

Both, re: Washington…lack of reps/production.

I think Musgrave could end up being the top TE of this class but he’s a major question mark in terms of health.
