What Makes Dak Irreplaceable?

To give an honest answer I think it's been this team's history. Because they have not really drafted a QB to be the "savior" and hit since Troy Aikman.

Quincy Carter (2001 2nd round pick) was an epic fail; as was the pick they traded to Houston in 2004 to get Drew Henson.

They lucked into Tony Romo as an undrafted free agent, and they drafted Dak in the 4th round in 2016 to be a developmental guy. They lucked into him since he's far exceeded their initial expectations.

Also they realize how hard it is to find a franchise quarterback. There are a ton of teams in the NFL right now that would love to have Dak, that's not opinion, it's fact. The thing is if they move on from Dak do they instantly find someone better? Or do we return to the 2000-2006 quarterback nightmare around here that didn't end until Parcells finally did the right thing and play Romo?
I heard Jerry say on the radio that Quincy was equal to a number 1 quarterback in the draft. Ha!

Any of you watching the 49ers Baltimore game? Exactly what I was saying earlier… and how important it is to have a complete team. It’s how you win Super Bowls. Purdy has thrown 3 picks in the first half and his team stepped up. They didn’t panic and kept handing the ball to CMC. Amazing what a good run game will do for your team. The score is 16-12 Baltimore. 49ers do not have an elite QB but their team is elite.

If Dak has a bad day he has nobody he can rely on. The whole damn team falls apart.

The term top 10 qb gets tossed around like it's some great thing. when in reality the level of qb-ing needed to be above average is really someone who would be considered a top 2 or 3 qb. saying you have a top 10 qb in such a conversation is meaningless.

So what would the Niners trade for Dak to get them over the hump? They shown they are willing to be aggressive and improve the QB spot … if the problem is everyone else but Dak, why aren’t the Niners pulling out all the stops to get dak? Why aren’t other teams? Serious question … why isn’t there a line for Dak’s services … don’t use his not trade clause as an excuse … he’d clearly waive it for more money, years and better shot at a championship. if Purdy isn’t the guy and Dak is, why isn’t SF beating down Jerry’s door? Make it make sense.

Fact is, no one is lining up for Dak because the problem isn’t that Dak has no one to rely on … the problem was as we saw yesterday … Dak more times than not can’t see wide open guys and put the ball on them … just ask #88.

Lmao what kind of argument is this? Purdy and Dak have similar stats this year. Why would they trade for similar production with a huge cap hit? Dak nor Purdy are elite, but you can win it all with the right team around them. There are two guys in this league that are elite (Mahomes and Rodgers). You only give up the farm for one of those guys.

 Just a little piece of advice. When your 6th shot of whiskey whispers, "Now is the perfect time to tell them what's on your mind" don't listen to it.

Just to clarify, you’re suggesting the fourth best QB in the NFL is not above average?

A new thread needs to be made on if Dak Prescott is tradable.

I think the answer is yes.

With today’s QB prices and a shortage of decent QBs, I say Dak can be traded even with the high price tag.
It doesn’t save Dallas any cap $$$ to trade him.

Making Dak a June cut saves as much as trading him.

They can split the dead cap over two seasons.

What makes Dak irreplaceable is the lack of a viable replacement. We can circle back once they find another top 10-ish quarterback, then it will come down to things like scheme fit and value. Until then, you're either all in on Dak or you're tanking. There really isn't an in-between.
Trey Lance.

I just watched the Chiefs lose again and the narrative is the team around Patrick Mahomes isn't good enough.
Sorry but that just isn't correct. The narrative around the entire country is that their WR's suck. If you did watch the Chiefs, then you saw Mahomes stand there in the pocket waiting and waiting for someone to get open. And if they, are then the real challenge begins - can they catch the ball. Just imagine if Toney was a Cowboy. He would be getting roasted every day by every member in here. We would have to sticky a thread in the Fan Zone just to allow the first page to have threads about other topics. Trust me I live in the heart of Chief country. The problem with them isn't at QB it's WR. And everyone is talking about it every day.

Noe you are playing deny the data. Please spare me the team is not good enough when Cooper Rush is 5-1 with the same roster. Dak has also had a way better OL his whole time here. Mahomes. already has 2 SBs and conference championship appearances in less time than our Wonder at at QB and did it with the same roster that Alex Smith played with.

And BTW,

The guy has been in the league the longest, and he’s only notched 6 wins in this context. That’s trash.

GREAT post.

What evidence from Lance’s career to date gives even the slightest hint that he would be as good or better than Prescott?

His film in the NFL is AWFUL. Hes a poor man’s Justin Fields. And that was despite a plus roster and coaching staff in SF.
A certain SB winning QB was also stocking shelves at one point. Chemistry is a thing in sports.
