What makes you think owens will change?

Looks like you and TO have ALOT in common, when it comes to keeping your word.

ashwyn - you got your butt handed to you on that one. while somethings can be open to interpretation by us all, this one is pretty clear.

and you didn't do what you said you'd either.

i'd go off in the back with a butter knife and scrape off the burn marks, ash.

I didn't want to dig up old stuff, but the Osama Bin Laden comment got me a little worked up.

Needless to say, my original post is floating off into the land of dead posts.:D

i think we all keep things "on file" to use later. the only one i really have is from the other day when summer went a "tad" too far with "you must state when it's your opinion". we all can and will say "questionable" things in the "heat of battle" (even if the battle is to be simply understood) but that was pretty...uh...stupid.

Terell Owens is the biggest disease in the United States
Why do u guys think he is suddenly goin to change for the cowboys?
He called his Qb gay, he called his other Qb stupid and a choker, he asked for a new contract when he was coming off an injury, and now both of those teams cannot seem to find any big players.
Y would he not do this to the boys?

Quality coaching, perhaps? Off the top of my head are the following players that Parcells tamed, I'm sure there are others.

Brian Cox
Terry Glenn
Lawrence Taylor
Keyshawn Johnson

These are all players that were as bad or worse than TO. They all performed at a high level because of Bill Parcells. Unlike Ried and McBaby, Parcells and Bledsoe are a no-nonsense, no bs guys. Like those before him, TO's performances will be confined to the field of play.

Bank on it!!

I'll be honest, I don't think he will change. I don't think the Cowboys do either. What we all think is that he'll follow his usual script--he'll behave for this year. That's why his contract was written the way it was.

Realistically, he'll play great this year. Then, next year at 12:01 am of FA, when Danny Boy Snyder signs another midget receiver to another ridiculous contract for $1 more than TO, he'll get unhappy & start whining. But when he does, the Boys can cut him loose with no real financial penalty. Meanwhile, Crayton has had another year to develop & to watch TO in action (which is a good thing, since TO does know how to run excellent routes). The 2 TEs have developed as well. So Jerruh can let TO go with some blandishment like "we wish him well to pursue his career with another team." Plus, I think Bledsoe is a bit tougher mentally than McNabb & Garcia, so if TO calls him names, who cares? Either that or Henson/Romo start playing, which leaves noone for TO to insult. If he wants to insult Parcells or Jerruh, I doubt either would give a flip.

I don't think he'll change when all is said and done, but the reasons he has to change are:

- Dallas is in the position where they can cut him at any time and it's a minimal cap hit. The last thing you want to do is give a disgruntled player a position where he can kill your team's cap if you try to cut him.

- He's making the money he wants and if he plays well and behaves, he'll make more money than he was asking for.

- I've heard horror stories of how the Eagles handled the situation. Owens was in the wrong, but the Eagles really handled this like slimeballs as well. Generally, Jerry Jones has always gotten compliments from agents and players for the way he deals with them and I do believe Parcells is better equipped to handle this than Reid or Mariucci.

- I'm reminded of another great player who was considered to be just as big of a cancer and that he would destroy your team and would never win a championship. That player's name? Brett Hull (watching Beyond the Glory last night, I forgot just how similar Hull was to Owens in personality)

Rich...............

Well, it will be tough to call Bledsoe "gay" since he's married with 4 kids and all.

And Jeff Garcia had 2 women, one being a former Playmate fight over him.

And it's pretty hard to argue that McBaby isn't a momma's boy :) They even make commercials about it !!

I think this major point has been floated out there for months now and the general consensus is to ignore it, even if it is very valid and has been verified by many sources.

he got his contract w/ the boys, and fulfilling it and getting all his money from it is predicated on him behaving, that's why I think TO will change, and the fact that Parcells and Bledsoe command more respect than Reid and McNabb

Simple he has no choice but to change, their is nothing left for Owens but
Dallas and what could be his final pay check, this is make or break and even
T.O. knows he's under the gun

every eye of scrutiny is watching..idiots are praying for it fail..the way T.O.
gets his revenge, is helping Dallas win title 6, then all the morons can do is
eat crow and cry

It amazes me how people can ridicule other people for looking at TOs past history and concluding that he will be trouble. This poster goes so far as to call them idiots. I just don't understand it. If TO were playing for any other team on the face of the earth, pretty much all would be in agreement with that approach and any team who signed him would be free game. Now, people who take a wait and see approach are idiots. It's astounding.

I thought this issue had been disposed of or at least put on hold long ago. About half of those here think "Parcells can control him" while the rest of us think that a Leopard doesn't change his spots. These opinions are pretty firmly entrenched on both sides and are not likely to change until Owens proves one side or the other wrong. There is no longer any point in rehashing these issues until there are some farther developments. He is signed and we have him for better or worse.

Brand new poster, and a 14 year old Skins fan at that. He's gauging things it seems.

I don't think he meant "idiots" for not agreeing with the signing. Looks like he meant "idiots" praying for him to fail. That is idiotic as it is wishing for a player's failure that ultimately isn't in our best interest and will cost the team wins.

Negotiating with TO brings down democracy.

Maybe if you could have brought this to Dubya's attention a few months ago, we could have dropped a few bunker buster's on T.O.'s Atlanta house, and just forgotten about the Middle East.

Who needs a land war in Asia, anyway?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

See ya.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I hope you aren't expecting a reply
