It really appears this team is just biding time, waiting for the right time for changes to be made. Trouble is, it takes almost forever to happen!

What shouldn’t happen - All peachy stories coming out of the camp and nothing in the real games

Things better happen- OL , a combination which gels and works in NFL is ready

DL - holes in DL and LB corps are filled and we have healthy starters ( hopefully better Run defense)

Diggs back without issues and we can have a good secondary

Emergence of some good WRs for WR3/4 spots be it Tolbert/ Turpin . They need to reliable and in sync with QB
It's the off-season man. The time when the Cowboys PR department shines They show you how good this team is on paper. See how terrific this offensive line looks like on paper? Darn, Guyton and Bebe on the line? How can you not dominate with that line? Don't pay attention that these guys are both raw and haven't proven anything, just focus on the potential which they will never live up to, and buy those tickets.

Nothing, the end is already written. This is going to end one of two ways. The Cowboys implode due to locker room issues - McCarthy is fired and they miss the playoffs. The Cowboys make the playoffs, likely just barely make it as a wildcard and get beaten in the first week. Either way, McCarthy is gone and likely the entire coaching staff along with Zimmer and the rest of them. Jerry will bring in Belichick and the clock gets reset. Doubt it is going to lead to anything. Hell I'd be impressed if Bill Belichick could fix the false starts and bone headed penalties this team has.
For half of our fans if we don't win the SB, we imploded and it was a failed season. I don't have such unrealistic expectations.

What needs to happen in training camp:

1. Most importantly - No major injuries
2. Beebe solidifies himself at Center
3. Guyton shows enough that he can hold his own at LT
4. Tolbert takes command of WR3
5. Diggs, Overshown, Mazi and Schoon are back to full strength.
6. Sam Williams takes the next step
7. We add a DT

With this off season making the playoffs would be considered a success.

Or maybe not go one and done in the playoffs. Or get past the divisional round for the first time in 30 years.

But yeah, the way it’s looking we may not even make the playoffs and get to go one and done again.

is there truly somebody consulting him?
that is possible, this is all very unlike jerry, but he is doing it like he believes in it.
Jerry wants the 2nd year guys and the high round guys from this year to step up and play, be starters.

I think with dak, it depends on what jerry does with him. He said TC is when he will negotiate with dak.
So lets see what happens there. If season starts and dak isnt signed, it would then depend on what kind of year and playoffs
dak has.
I think jerry feels like the players he has paid the bag to have let him down. Draft picks taking too long to develop if at all.

So we have the new jerry who is saying show me on the field if you want your bag.

but if he signs dak before Season starts, then it is just same ol jerry lol.

My thinking is that Dak is signing for less than 60 million per year and im not good with that therefore the thing i want to happen by TC is for him to agree to be traded

Problem is CD showed him on the field and Dak lead the league in passing.

If GM Jethro wants to win a SB he needs to build a complete team.

they were both shut down in first half of GB wc game.
Being great during the season is meaningless, if they cant do as well in the playoffs, or even play badly.

If they cant cut it in playoffs, then they need to be cut or traded. not given a giant contract.

It is not meaningless. If you suck during the regular season you never get to the playoffs.

Ive been back and forth I felt like last year it was NFC championship or bust after that GB loss was surprised that they retained MM
I feel like it surprised a lot of us McCarthy was retained. I was very surprised and disappointed.

What is the only thing that must be done by the end of camp? The training and medical staff gets caught up.

Heart answer: they're screwed either way.

Head answer:

- the o line has shown some promise. Coaches think the newbies are ready to take on NFL defenses

- Dak knows his new o line fairly well. He's understood that the main offensive load once again lies on him. concentrates on steering the bus instead of trying stupid stuff. Meaning: doing what he did last year and hope the defense will cover him. He has reached his ceiling so staying away from mistakes is key rather than trying to put up big numbers. Getting back on the same page with CD

- Micah is a one trick pony and his DC needs to set up plays accordingly. Concentrate on the run defense, get mean, meaner, the meanest. No getting pushed around. Stay classic, no "innovative" stuff. Zimmer could be the guy for that.

- receiving corps will be fine. As I said in another thread, CD is top notch, Fergie has improved. They have to talk some serious words with Cooks. Zeke can catch too. That's the least of my worries.

- coaches: see whether Mike is a lame duck or players following him still. A competent GM would know. Not that I can trust Jerry with that.

Nothing will happen in TC
But I promise you Zimmer is quietly putting together a offensive coaching staff.
The MAJOR changes will happen in week 3 at the earliest and week 7 latest.

What I wanna see is no major injuries and the guys who were injured coming back off injury that were key players were gonna count on this year like overshown and diggs I wanna see them doing really well I wanna see some improvement from steel and I wanna hear good things about our young offensive lineman that's it I mean what do you expect from practice and what you're gonna hear I mean when you ask this question you just wanted to rip on the Joneses because yes original poster we see you you started this so then you can say how they don't know how to run a team even though they been to the playoffs 5 out of the last eight years they've won two division titles 36 games have been to three straight playoffs and been a top six team they seem to always be on primetime if this was his disorganized and terrible as fans here perceive it to be we'd be A5 win team if the perception became reality this is A5 win team according to most of the fan base who seem to be very angry and don't have a lot of confidence in the team...

Bad teams with terrible owners and terrible GM do not do what I just listed up there I get it we wanna go further in the playoffs I get it we want another NFC championship game I get it's been 28 years because I could do math but it could be far worse than it's been that's for damn sure!!!! We are in fact one of the top teams in the league regardless of our disappointing playoff exit hit below the belt feel like a gut punch but this is a new season but the fact is we are a very good team the last three years top six and you're saying they don't know what they're doing so they accidentally became a top six team and all the other GM's who know what they're doing are the 28 teams below us that's odd isn't it the irony that all these other jams know what they're doing but the Cowboys seem to be finishing ahead of a bunch of them just blindly they must be like using a magic 8 ball and a dart board on how to run the draft and who to get in the offseason and how to put the team together and it's just happened to be working out just enough to be a top six team!!

What has to happen is unrealistic. The time for what had to happen has already past.

Right now the Cowboys have just over $1 million in effective CAP space according to Over-the-CAP. They could add more money easily if they wanted. Extending CeeDee would add around $16 million this year. They are choosing not to. They have shown us what this year will be with their actions. Accept it. Miracle don't happen in real life. We make them happen. Jerry is not making a miracle happen this year.
Jerry is more concerned with actual dollars and sending a message than he is the damage to the cap. This doesn't even take a GM to notice. It's poor cap management. This is not to say Jerry doesn't know what he's doing most of the time with the cap. But sometimes he makes very bad decisions.

I'm not even talking about the Zeke contract. In terms of cap, it didn't hurt the Cowboys that much. I'm talking about the initial Dak fiasco. That not only cost him more in real dollars, but the cap hits due to the delays were a complete disaster. Dallas owes 90-95M to the cap which was totally avoidable.

Now he's doing the exact same thing with Lamb. Instead of paying him 23-25M after 2022, he's looking at paying him 30M with no rookie years left to spread that out. That's amateurish.
