This is a tough one because the entire league is going to be watching Dak's mobility and determining if it is real and a tactical threat. If he is gimpy ala John Elway in his final years then Schotty and Co. are going to have to have other players become the threat, and Dak and the o-line have to support the distribution of the ball. Are there any plays/concepts/routes that you can think of that we used this past season or in previous season under MM that Dak will be allowed to keep to help him run the offense. Is there any routes you feel that he excels well at, the coaches will feel the same about. Or, will Shotty change it up a lot to get this offense to be more balanced and efficient. Yes we've had good offenses over the years in terms of stats, but were they good when we needed them to be (in the red zone, playoffs, or in critical points of a game?) Please give your thoughts
Being in shotgun with some distance between you and the defence is an advantage to read the defensive rush and move to open space if you have the legs that Jackson, Allen, Hurts and Mahomes have. If you have limited mobility, then you are just deeper, and have to throw it harder to get the ball anywhere. This is what I enjoyed about Rush. He took a lot of snaps behind center which I believe is way more effective for play action. Dak seems to prefer shotgun much of the time, as do most QBs in today's NFL. Unfortunately.
