Putting a nice big roast in the slow cooker in the morning. Complete with mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, gravy and veggies. Here in the mountain time zone, the game ends at dinner time.

Hopefully, it will br a celebretory meal.

If I would have thought ahead I would have gotten some black angus patties and grilled those at halftime

wife and I were just talking about this......one of the best times of year where the season begins changing to Fall and the house smells of home cooking on football Sunday and our COWBOYS - love it!!

aside from the assortment of apps (guac, wings, pigs on a blanket, etc) thinking of making some homemade rice balls

Grilled grass-fed ribeye, non-gmo white corn on the grill, spinach salad with Spanish olive oil and white apricot balsamic vinegar mix with herbs and local honey, homemade peach pie a la mode for desert. And a 2012 Napa Cab to wash it all down.

Oh and some manchego with jamon iberico and a purée of San Marzano's from the garden.

that's how us cowboys fans in NorCal launch the season. It's a special occasion out here and we like to celebrate. ;)

How do you make those?

here's what looks like a good recipe to me....

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rice-balls-recipe.html

the key is to let the rice/egg/sauce/cheese mixture cool before cooking. We have a deep fryer and dip them in there to cook but in a pan is just as good too. I like to make them a little big, like the size of a baseball and put a meet, mozzarella and peas surprise in the middle. Honestly, can be a bit of a project so to make it worth the work, we usually make a bunch of them at one time and freeze some to eat another time.

Sounds great and does sound like a lot of work.
