Works the same way as heroin? Ups your dopamine production? Boosts metabolism?
If I wasn't a Type 1 diabetic: Sign me up! I might as well become a Type 2 like the rest of the fools out there...

I can't stand soda. Not even in my booze. Seltzer's as close as I get.

I'll have a can of coke occasionally, but I just primarily drink water and unsweetened iced tea. If I drank an equivalent amount of soda every day I'd probably be 20 lbs heavier.
this my story also. I'll have a soft drink every few months but I'm primarily a water and unsweet tea person.

I can't held down how freaked out people gets about Cokes. I drink 2-3 liters s day of Coke and I love every swallow. I am not overweight , my sugar levels are fine, I don't see the problem. I find it funny that so many people are worried about a Coke, but they would freak out if they knew the additives and steroids that are put into other foods. You can't out run death. Many of the people that I know that avoids anything labeled as being bad for their health, seems to stay sick and die young. I drink tons of Cokes and smoke a couple packs of smokes a day without regret. I have no desire to live to be 90 years old , or even 80 for that matter. Life is too short to worry about it. You might as well enjoy it while you are here.

Best way to lose weight is to avoid too many carbs. Protein and fat mostly the former and low carb ingestion will create a state of ketosis quickly. The body is then forced to use fat to make starch used as glucose for body demands esp the brain. That's how you lose your fat.

20 gms of carbs/sugar is very low and 50 still gets the job done at a lesser rate. 20 gms is a very low number and hard to do.

30% of obese people are diabetic. Diabetes has more to do with lack of exercise, poor sleep, genetics and metabolic syndrome which is related to obesity some. Poor sleep has become a major issue esp lack of REM sleep. Healthy young adults will develop insulin resistance in 3 days of sleep deprivation. Total sleep time is important but quality sleep esp REM is more important.

Cokes are bad enough and carbonation creates enough distention that over time you stretch your abdominal muscles which gives you a big belly. Add that to lots of fat in the mesentery around the intestines and you have a pot belly esp if you're a man.

You're getting away with it now and possibly from a metabolic syndrome perspective from now on. You may suffer other problems though like kidney stones, osteoporosis etc.

Interesting. I pretty much stopped with the soda.
And have not had coffee in about 40 years.
Herbal tea now.
Boy when I do have soda.... Night spins. Up at night from it.

Been trying to move from the black coffee to tea... that's not easy.... caffeine is tough.... I can just imagine when you put caffeine and high fructose corn syrup.

The sodas aren't nearly as bad for you as the tobacco.

If you've smoked 2 packs/day x 15 years, that's 30 pack/years; you probably already have signs of COPD.

If you don't succumb to cancer, strokes, or heart attacks (the risks are 10-fold higher), you'll probably slowly suffocate.

I've seen plenty of suffering; I wish you the best of luck.

Do the lungs heal and get back to normal? I quit in '99 and I run 5 miles a day but it seems like I don't have as much lung capacity as I would like. I was a very heavy smoker when I quit so I wondered about that.

Pop, even the of the diet variety are very bad for you. High fructose corn syrup which is in most pop brands today has been proven to be worse for you then real sugar. I think its comical and sad actually to see obese people gorging themselves with a 1500 calorie meal then ordering a diet coke as if that will make any difference whatsoever.

i think it's sad you give so much of a damn what "obese" people eat.

The tar and toxins in cigarette smoke cause inflammation of bronchioles and alveoli, leading to the formation of scar tissue. studies show that a small portion (10-20%) of tar and other deposits can be eventually coughed up when one quits smoking, with gradual improvement made for up to 7 years.

Improvement can be felt immediately due to the absence of carbon monoxide inhalation, but there may be an increase in phlegm production (which is a good thing) due to the re-awakening of cilial motility, improving expectoration.

Additional improvement is felt by the typical increase in cardiopulmonary function derived from the improved aerobic conditioning that a cig quitter usually is motivated to do.

Reading this got me a coke to go with my BLT, taste good. lol
I drink cokes and other soft drinks now and then, not a daily drinker of the taste beverage. I think most things in moderation is not that bad

Seems like a pretty rational approach to life. Except for our Cowboys, right?

Oh yeah, you think coke is bad for you Cowboys games have me pacing the floor, high blood pressure, difficulty breathing and heart palpitations.
NFL has stated adding more games? players I think could handle it but I doubt I could. lol
