What Player Don't you Want at 24?

Would you take the 6th best DT over that BPA running back?
There is a reason drafting BPA is more successful than reaching for needs.
My way gets you Randy Moss.
Your way gets you Greg Ellis.
That's not an answer to the question buddy. Wanna try again?

When people dodge yes or no questions it's very telling.

I didn't dodge the question. I redirected your question back on to you so you could see the silliness in it. What RB in this draft is the 24th best player? If you want the 31st best player at 24 then you trade down. That's how you get the position you want to fill instead of reaching. It's all better if BPA is a position of need. Sometimes the stars align.

So you won't answer it. Just FYI. I knew you wouldn't.

What are the parameters?

It’s not BPA in the 100% literal sense…we’re not drafting a QB, RB, Kicker, Punter or Long Snapper at 24.

I think the best teams factor need and positional value into building their boards and then try to pick the best players based off of that.

Wait, you cosign drafting for need over bpa? :muttley:

Thats how you end up with Zeke over Jalen Ramsey
You know damn well I been saying you draft bpa at positions of need unless the gap btw players are too much. Zeke was a better player than Ramsey in 2016 though if we being honest and not using 20/20 hindsight.

For example, I'm not drafting that wr Burks when there will be 10 other players close to him. I don't care if his grade is 7.7 and everybody else is 7.5

Zeke vs Ramsey is a great example of positional value…they were both phenomenal prospects but The value of CB should’ve tipped the scale times a million. RB is arguably the most replaceable position in football and has a short shelf life for a how long a player is good.

Taking Zeke over Ramsey was a horrendous move for the franchise…extending him and paying him was probably worse.

So now it's positional value added on to bpa lol. Yall are funny. This is what happens when you parrot what experts say. Yall need to come up with a better term other than bpa

Just explaining what I think a majority of people mean when they say BPA.

You can call it whatever you want and copyright the new phrase…how about that?

The new phrase is common sense and logic. I already said that brother

There are definitely hardliners that just parrot "BPA no matter what!" And that of course is unreasonable.

But I think most people ascribe to BPA at a position of need, and positional value does also factor into that (at least that would be my approach)

I think the Ramsey vs. Zeke scenario is a textbook example of that.

Many fans keep bringing the Ramsey- Zeke draft up, but I think Ramsey’s attitude would have caused him to want out of Dallas just like he wanted out of Jacksonville. Randy Moss would have never stayed in Dallas , so I have never regretted Dallas passing on him either.

I mean…you could argue Zeke had an attitude / ego when he held for a contract when he was already on one.

Yeah, I don't buy that. Ramsey wanted to come to Dallas which is why he's been bent about it ever since. He was playing in Jacksonville. The context is completely different.

And folks act like he's such a malcontent yet he played-out during his rookie contract, even showing up to mini-camps in his fourth year when he was hoping to get an extension. Zeke forced the Cowboys hand straight up holding out.

There’s a group here that feel the team should draft Davis to “finally” fill the need of that big run stooping DT. This will surprise some but I think if Davis is there he’s going to get a real look. Davis is really unlike anything we’ve seen. And I think there are people in front offices that think he’s more than just a run stopper. You also start to wonder what a guy like Quinn could do for the player. The combine I think opened some eyes. Because of that I don’t think he has any chance of falling to 24.
