What scouting reports said about Cowboys WR Noah Brown: He plays like a power forward, battering ram

Not sure I know any power forwards that are 6'2", but anyway they make him sound like Dez, don't think he has that kind of freaky athleticism coming out the draft as Dez did.

Probably will compete with Butler though, not like Butler is all that motivated to do anything other than collect a check. Butler and your one year deal, since that worked out so well with Mo....writing is on the wall. Only offensive players we drafted were 2 WRs, duh. And I could see another one next year, a bit higher than Switz.

We could always kidnap Julio, just thinking outside the box...
Broaddus thinks he's a lot like Dez, they are both very physical and run the same type routes. Workout times are pretty close as well. Dez has a little more straight line quickness and speed while Brown has a little more lateral quickness and agility.

Noah Brown 6020 222 1.61 2.63 4.56 / 4.33 7.07
Dez Bryant ..6020 225 1.53 2.51 4.52 / 4.46 7.10

But he's much bigger. Major possession receiver. Imagine having him and Zeke in there on 3rd downs. Unstoppable. Chains moving all day long..lol

Anyone that gets rid of Butler is fine by me.

BTW, running the same type routes as Dez isn't exactly a compliment.

In this case it was. Dez runs the physical routes well. He just doesn't run a lot of routes well.

True, TO was mentioned in this thread, wish we had a Rice to show him the way. Gotta run all the routes crisp.

Either way, I would love for him to beat out Butler.

If they give you a one year deal, your replaceable or they are looking to replace you......that's what it has to do with Mo.
The entire league is moving in that direction. One year deals all over the place. It's not something specific to the Cowboys and has nothing to do with Mo. Mo had big time injury issues that contributed to that deal. Additionally the Cowboys invested 2 high draft picks in Mo. Butler's situation is far different.

I would agree with that! He really disappointed me last year.

Jet sweep to Lucky Witehead....

Fly route to Brice Butler....

Two plays last year that I would like to see a lot less frequently this year if the same players are involved.

Yeah its going on everywhere, just pointed him out cause he was a Cowboy.

All these one year deals and going cheap in free agency has to get the attention of the NFLPA. Was much easier to be a mediocre vet in the past than right now.

Oh you know the players union isn't loving them at all.

What this could really come down to is how well Noah Brown plays on special teams. If he can be a gunner - or block punts - then that might be the edge needed for the Cowboys coaching staff to look in his direction. Backup players MUST EXCEL in special teams in my book. Noah Brown will not be placing any of the top three receivers on the bench come September.
Zeke is the key here. As a Freshman on a loaded Ohio State team, how did Zeke get Urban Meyer's attention? On special teams. I read Zeke blasted a ball carrier on kickoff coverage. This got his foot in the door with their coaching staff.

I'm sure Zeke - who advocated for Jerry to draft him - will tell him that's what he needs to do to make the final 53. Like Zeke, he's physical enough to do it.

He might have a larger catch radius than rookie Dez. That catch he had vs OU was insane.

Noah Brown, if not for a broken leg his previous college season, could have gone much higher in the draft. That held back his development for route runnning as well as to polish other areas.
I seen every game of his, and been saying it for months before the draft, they need to find a way to draft him.

Brown was only targeted 56 times or something like that last year. I think if he had a better QB he would have caught more than the 33 or so catches he did have.

He just needs some refinement and time. I sure hope he can last on the PS or even get to the PS. However, it would be best for the team if they kept 6 WR's, even if he is inactive each week.
Like they did with Darius Jackson last year. Seen enough to keep that extra RB.
He was released more so they need the roster spot though.

We shall see in TC how he does.
Any rookie mini camp reports yet? I haven't had a chance to look yet.

All righty then -- we now have a nasty, physical receiver with sticky fingers and a love for the game. I'm optimistic that Brown will bring a physical presence and nasty demeanor that this team would do well to utilize. Welcome to the Cowboys, Noah! I hope to see you on the roster real soon. Ohio State has had a knack for finding this type of player for some time now. I'm really glad to see we found him as well. The staff will be obliged to work on his route running, as he decelerates before his breaks. If they can get him out of that habit, they may really have something special here.
