What to do with Gallup?

He’s invisible out there. Tolbert has clearly passed him on the depth chart. And he doesn’t play special teams. Once Cooks is healthy I would seriously think about benching him. Not getting any separation. Ever. Way overpaid. The “injury” discount caught cap boy again. I’ll be shocked if he’s on the team a year from now.
Keep him around for depth purposes. He can still make plays. He’s not making a lot of them this year but I would feel better having Gallup in there if we have injuries to the WRs. I don’t want to rely on Turpin to be a WR for the whole game. Next year move Gallup if his production doesn’t improve.

Gallup is not an underneath route guy. Week 1 was a toss away given the weather. Today the Jets have a good defense and it was clear the game plan was to get the ball out quick. That is not going to suit Gallup. He will make plays that I am sure.
How do you get to your what.....sixth? year in the NFL and not be able to run underneath routes?

Tolbert passing him on the depth chart? Let's not make Gallup a 2023 Fall Guy nominee so fast. I know the board is looking for nominees. Dak, Zeke (yep, still a nominee), and MM so far and we're 2-0.

Please share with us the all 22 sequences you obviously have scrutinized that exhibit Gallup's disappearing act.

Do nothing with him. Evaluate him next spring.

In the meantime let's keep winning games and be glad he could step up if necessary.
We have no idea if he can “step up”. Yet another *** extension from this org. Best charity on the planet.

Also - anyone not named Lamb hates this dink and dunk crap.

Have you seen Gallup high point? Clearly you haven’t. It’s probably his best attribute.
So, this was a good game? I was impressed by both sides of the ball.

We don't have to have a track meet against a cheetah each week? I still like the fill by the safeties and the defensive line has strong depth I'm finding faith in. There is some hitting going on right now.

It is only the second game of the season. He is adjusting to the offense as he is more of a mid to deep ball catching receiver. His time will come. Gallup was spectacular in his first couple of seasons, then he got that nasty leg injury and it took almost 2 seasons to recover. When healthy and routinely thrown to he can be an explosive deep threat.

Maybe this injury finished his career. If so it’s sad. But we don’t know after 2 games. Dak and Gallup needs to be back on target. If it stays this way then he will be replaced and Tolbert will take his spot.
We've had 21 games to know he is done.

Sounds like you answered your own question.

If he isn't playing well, you promote Tolbert over him.
Worst case you make him inactive but there's no need for his roster spot so it's a non-story.
10 guys are overpaid; he is just one of them.

Ok? What should they do? Take him out back and shoot him? Even if he’s not a regular starter, there is still a role for him in the offense.

Could see a trade for him for Dalvin Cook midseason.
What are we going to do with Dalvin Cook? He was terrible yesterday.

Don't change a thing. Injuries can happen and he's needed. Right now, I can't think of a position that's needed. He can be a bargaining chip for anything that may happen.

There's no question that Gallup is struggling to return to his former status, but he'll likely be retained this year until further notice. In the meantime, Tolbert seems to have taken Gallup's place in terms of their usefulness of their active roles in the team's games. Perhaps Gallup will improve and maybe he won't. Given due time, we'll see what develops.

I'd have him line up and run routes, and when the reads come to him throw him the ball. But I'm kind of an outlier.
