What was actually different today?

the jags fell for our 2016 bootleg offense for the whole of the first half, not sure they watched a lot of film but the Skins know our offense better.

The difference was the 2016 formula...the Jags didn’t cover Beasley. Beasley was the entire passing game and moved the chains. Dak managed the game from there.

I’m on record as a execution over play calling guy. The team executed today and the results followed.

Curious what people noticed that was different? For me, the big thing I saw in the first half was that we basically ran play action on 90 percent of our pass plays in the first half.
Execution for sure, along with fairly decent pass protection with just a few breakdowns.
On the other side of the argument, I thought it was gutsy and wise that we avoided the Zeke trap. We know our WRs and TEs are below average and that we were going up against the top defense in the NFL, and that, like every other team, they would make every effort to stop Zeke and put us in 3rd and long.

What I loved was we came out slinging the ball instead of hoping to eek out a win in a conservative game. We not only threw on first and second, but we took shots beyond ten yards and challenged their great CBs all game. I think this surprised the JAGS, got them off balance and uncomfortable, and actually opened some opportunities for Zeke later. That’s my take.

I think it’s three in a row to start the season. I mean, they just a couple of years ago won 11 games in a row so it couldn’t be overall.
Ok now that makes wayyyyyyyy more sense. I didn't think that sounded right but we've sucked so bad at home I didn't question it lol.

One thing that helped is the style of D the Jags played. Aggressive and a lot of Man, that means Dak is not having to read too much in coverage. It also gave Beas the space to run his either/or routes without simply cutting into a zone where a LB is waiting. Once the O-line showed they could give enough time to at least either make one read and throw or run, Dallas had them perfectly set up.

The Jags were confused the first half and not the second.. the problem for the Jags is Bortles is trash and without Fournette, awful. Jaguars made it 24-7 and could have threatened if Bortles didn’t throw the worst INT I’ve ever seen in the next drive.

The Jags were just rushing straight up a lot too.. just a bunch of undisciplined defense by the Jags the first half..

Vanilla. That, and not trying to take Beasley away. It was like they thought they didn't have to gameplan against the Cowboys.

I said it looked like they didn’t really take this game seriously. There were so many people running wide open this game for our team and if not, Dak has so much time.

I just think they totally overlooked this game and it’s a big lesson for them.

Problem for them is they don’t have any offense to compensate when their defense looks that confused.

I don’t see the Jaguars going anywhere in the playoffs.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is now 10-2 when he’s rushed the ball at least five times in a game. He’s now 5-0 when rushing at least seven times. #CamNewtonOffensePlease

Don't forget -
Against the
#2 defense last season
#1 defense coming into tonight
With a win, Dak is 5-0 when rushing at least 7 times.
#LetDakBeDak

First time in stadium history we start 3-0 at home

Tidbits - Feed Zeke, Sign Beez, why the heck did we have Byron Jones at S for years?, thank you uncle Jerry for telling Stephen to stop babying Dak

You mean the Cowboys are.

musta been the McGregor pre-game speech. certainly everyone was mimicking him "in game" so must have been a good one.

Yeah I worded it lazy. I watch all these games sadly......I'm aware somehow they are great at home this year but in years past its been different. The first time we've won 3 home games in a row since 1999?That's insane. We had a few 13, 11 and 12 win seasons in there and couldn't even do it those years?

We suck at home normally. Romo’s MVP season, we were undefeated on the road, with the exception of Lambeau. GB was undefeated at home that year. We still should have won if the catch wasn’t overruled.

I didn't get to see much as I was traveling through the boonies and apparently the CBS All Access app sucks. It kept cutting in and out so I just saw plays here and there for the first few quarters. From what I saw it looked like a lot of Dak running, and somehow Jax not being prepared (or very poorly disciplined) for the PA bootleg. Would that be an accurate assessment?

Pretty much. Though this was was one of Dak’s ‘good games’ where he also makes the throws to keep the chains moving in the first half and some runs. There was a nice throw to Beasley on third, with pressure and a pass to Thomas I believe, he dropped it in between the zone, but Thomas couldn’t get his feet down. But Dak had plenty of time and there was one TD pass to Beasley where the Jags only had two men rushing.

They were just in disarray the first half. Second half before I turned it off, he was mediocre again. He couldn’t pass and they were trying, contrary to what others were saying. Jags played more disciplined to start the second.

It’s nothing to get too excited about.
