What was up with the playcalling early on?

Considering we normally get pure vanilla in preseason tonight was a pleasant surprise.

Was cool to see. We've had virtually the same playbook since the Wade Phillips era so teams know what we run anyway mine as well open it up for Dak

I saw slants, bootlegs, and screens.... What in the heck got into this coaching staff?

Have they finally decided to stop playing caveman football maybe?

MANNNEEEEE!!!! I said Bout Time we got the line to run whatever kind of offensive type plays put em all in there read option and all when dad is in... bout time..... Romo may score on a couple of fake handoffs in shotgun at the one like Peyton... i can see it

old Romo 34 ads passing but 6 rushing tds

I really believe the staph was testing the composure of the young guns.

I do have to say: all in all a satisfying night. There is some much needed optimism in this room. Even I feel a bit better about the QB youth.
But we shall see.

Romo, Dez, and Dunbar all going down early last season, as well as starting the chonie bandito kind have made a major change in the play book last season. Let's look at last season like 1985 and never mention it again.

I really hope they plan on doing different stuff this season offensively instead of: "line up and beat your man", vanilla, run on 1st down every time, throw to Witten 3 yards short of the sticks, screen to Dunbar LITERALLY 99.9% of the time he's in, or leaving Dez in one spot where he disappears 2 quarters at a time.

I actually think they will. Please God!

Bingo, can't draw to much of conclusion from the first preseason game. But what I saw was a DP that was involved in the game both on the sidelines and on the field. Coaches seem to connect/trust DP while Showers still considered practice squad material.

I hear you Miley... I hope so too.

We've been calling slants from all areas of the field more since Linehan has been here. We ran bootlegs last year particularly for Weeden who struggled to use both sides of the field and panicked under pressure. We tried to run the traditional screen last year and the year before but the backs and blockers struggled to execute.

OP doesn't seem to understand the difference between playcalling and execution.

You never pull your punches, do you?

OP comes with the same take over and again. When I ask him what route combinations we run out of what formations and I get nothing. If you cannot say what the play was then I don't see how you can complain about playcalling. Guessing run or pass doesn't count.

I'm not sure what the tell was but it used to be on screens a DL or LB would sniff it out and be on Murray, DMC, and Dunbar like stink on ****. Randle has been the only one on the past two season who seemed to be able to execute it.

I don't mind complaining but when you come with the same complaint over and over again and it stems from you not paying attention I see no reason to play nice.
