What we are missing. speed at WR + vertical routes

Just watching SEA make plays down the seams and down the field, we dont run those plays because we have no one like Baldwin, Richardson, or Lockett to stretch vertically. It really opens up throwing windows. Rather, we stretch only horizontally with Beasley, Dez (across middle), and Witten. When its 3rd and long, no one respects us vertically. So they sit on everything. And the throwing windows are so small. But look at the huge windows that Russ Wilson has on a weekly basis. This is how I would change the team in the offseason. Need to make this easier on Dak next year.

Would Dak be able to hit this speed receiver?

Honestly, with the LT spot being what it is without Tyron, there's no way any WR would have enough time to run a 7, 8, or 9 route. It has little to do with Dez, Butler, or TWill. They're more than fast enough.

Butler has speed. Dez has gotten in position down the field more often than you’d think this year.

Problem is even when OL is healthy Dak can’t put the pass on the money.

At this point, I just think Garrett prefers it that way and that's the problem. He likes his WRs to have decent size so they can run those slow-developing 15 yard post routes and then it opens up Beasley and Witten underneath for those 5 yard passes.

Absolutely nothing on this unit threatens the length of the field if Zeke is out of the lineup. Dallas’ outside receivers haven’t been wining at the top of routes and nothing else really scares defenses.

This offense is built to pound and when it does, short-to-intermediate jabs in the passing game makes it formidable enough. Threatening vertically isn’t really in their bag. It really should be addressed.

They are doubling beasley and that shuts down the whole team.

Yet the Patriots trade for Brandon Cooks. Belicheck knows, hes a visionary aĺways making the correct move at the right time.

Hell the game changer this year would have been trading for Gordon. Hes a bona fide beast. As soon as he takes off running, by sheer inertia 3 defenders start chasing in his direction. Combine thatvwith Dez and you are talking domination that dynystic type.

But no. No no no no no no nothning
I am not saying that it was a nesesity to sign Gordon or is it such an obvious signing, that it should even had been on the Cowboys radar.

But I ve known for about 7 years we had no speed at WR. But I Loooovvveddd watching Romo to Bryant. Nothning better in sports for the last 10 yrs. Just saying though.

But we dont have Romo no mo. So we need someone to spread the field. Hello Gordon.

But no

Butler is fast, and gets open. I know he drops balls at times, but I wish we used him more consistently.

They mentioned on the broadcast last night that Dak was having to release the ball in 2.7 seconds (I think... 2 point something) due to pressure. That's not long enough for anything to develop downfield even if you had a fast WR.

Noticed the same thing as well. His receivers always seem to be open.....wide open. And Wilson buys time so it's basically impossible to maintain tight coverage over those three speedsters for more than 5 seconds. I think dak would be much better off with a receiving core similar to seattles!

Dez is more than fast enough? Lmao. Not even close. He's pretty slow. No one respects his speed up the field at all. No one really respects him as a WR in general anymore.
