What we are missing. speed at WR + vertical routes

Would Dak be able to hit this speed receiver?

Honestly, with the LT spot being what it is without Tyron, there's no way any WR would have enough time to run a 7, 8, or 9 route. It has little to do with Dez, Butler, or TWill. They're more than fast enough.

Holy ****. There is intelligent life after all. :hammer::clap:

Dallas runs vertical a lot. It's just almost exclusively outside the numbers.

The horizontal routes are mostly within 5 yards of the LOS, usually towards the sideline.

They rarely attack the deep middle and seams.
This. I’m jealous watching New Orleans and Seattle

Just watching SEA make plays down the seams and down the field, we dont run those plays because we have no one like Baldwin, Richardson, or Lockett to stretch vertically. It really opens up throwing windows. Rather, we stretch only horizontally with Beasley, Dez (across middle), and Witten. When its 3rd and long, no one respects us vertically. So they sit on everything. And the throwing windows are so small. But look at the huge windows that Russ Wilson has on a weekly basis. This is how I would change the team in the offseason. Need to make this easier on Dak next year.
This has been an issue since TO and Terry Glenn(RIP).....so that tells me they don't want speed. You don't go that long without speed unless it is intentional. Plus....don't minimize the issue of "sacred cows"...that would be Dez and Witten.

I hate that we don't have a speed receiver.

Yep, I'll betcha the great majority of those here share that thought. Whenever an offense is deficient in stretching the field, production suffers. We all know how any team fitting that description simply becomes that much easier to defend. I'm sure a speedy WR with good hands who could reliably gain separation would do wonders for this team. I strongly believe Dak needs a WR to fit that mold. :)

Remember the play Dak made to Dez in Pittsburgh last year that was a beautiful long pass? He was moving to his left in the pocket and put it on the dime. Dez CAN throw it and hit it.

Something if off however reference the vertical game, no doubt.

We literally have 10 guys on the field at this point when witten is out there
Hate to say it but he really is at the end.

Still a serviceable player but not with the combination of lack of threats on the field we have right now.

Honestly....we need to take a TE in the first 3 rounds this year and we need to get it right.

Dak really struggles throwing deep routes, just looks at the go routes h throws to Dez, I'd say at least half are uncatchable or out of bounds
And look at the windows he's throwing to...there are none because Dez is wearing the db on his back.

The Dak flak surprises me here. It shouldn't, but it somehow does.

Dak threw 3 picks two of which were his fault. He admitted himself that early in the season he did not pay enough attention to his mechanics and his accuracy struggled. He's fine when he has to drive the football but he lacks touch downfield.

Yes...so smart.

Now how does this logic translate into taking a quick crossing route to the house or a slant etc?

Dez has always had DBs on his back. You have to use leverage and throw the ball high. Romo did it just fine and I see plenty of other QBs do it. Dak not so much.

I have seen plenty of balls thrown high and he is just not getting up to get them like he used to.

How anyone can't see that he isnt the same is beyond me.

The last great play we have seen from Dez was the TD against the Cards...that was amazing. Other than that...not much this year.

I see a lot of overthrows or balls thrown inside/OOB. Dak is not accurate in his deepball placement. His second pick last game illustrates that well. You have to leverage the ball and place it around 10' in the air where the WR can get it and the DB cannot make a play.

The meme where you just chuck it and the WR goes and gets it is misleading. He can only go and get it when the throw is leveraged correctly. If he has to come back through inside leverage it's done incorrectly.

At this point, I just think Garrett prefers it that way and that's the problem. He likes his WRs to have decent size so they can run those slow-developing 15 yard post routes and then it opens up Beasley and Witten underneath for those 5 yard passes.
You mean that play, where beasly steps out of bounds right afer he catches it, usually short of a first

Butler has speed. Dez has gotten in position down the field more often than you’d think this year.

Problem is even when OL is healthy Dak can’t put the pass on the money.

Except the fact that he ranked first in the league in tight window throws( passes into 1 yard of separation or less)

I agree totally and observed this during Sunday's game, more over the lack of any speed by the receivers. Williams supposedly has the speed, but is rarely targeted, and he runs east and west when he does make a catch. I remember last year Bryant was schooling Butler on how to fight for the ball, but now Bryant needs to be schooled on the same thing.
