What will be the best plan to fix our receiving core?

None on this list really move the needle so to speak. Really think outside ODB, Allen if released are the two best in fa. Trade market might be the best way to address this need.
I think Hardman could be a nice weapon. JuJu, Chark, Campbell and Lazzard would all be decent #2's at least.
But yeah, none are great options.
I don't really think adding OBJ and keeping TY is a great move. One or the other and a young guy is the way I'd go.
Trading for Moore, Ridley or Michael Thomas would be better options IMO.

Let's see -- fix the WR core while going to a WCO.
Move CD back to #2 as he was absolutely awesome at that role.
Get a #1 -- maybe a Quinton Johnston falls in your lap in the draft. Big strong RAC possession WR like Irvin, TO, Rice, Dez
Resign TY or draft a very quick WR with lots of RAC ability .
Then go get a specialist late. A jump out of the gym guy for use in Red Zone.

#1 -- Possession WR who gets the quick slants, etc but has a body strong enough to handle and forces teams to not just man him up.
#2 -- CD gets to find holes and run everywhere. He is taylor made for this job.
#3 -- quick guy, maybe speed guy like TY designed to keep teams from putting a slow LB or SS on the #3 guy
#4 -- Gallup gets to be the #1 and #2 replacement for breather or injury. Also plays the #3 IF the other team has quick guy with no size he can man handle.
#5 -- Turpin -- replaces the #3 guys due to injury or breather, and is the return man.
#6 -- jump out of the gym guy who is a Red Zone specialist.

At least this is how I would look at it with the WR core being specialize at the position so OC can utilize them in differing ways depending on defenses strength.

I would love to get a legit #2 WR…but who are the options? Just trying to be realistic about the scenario

And while he hasn’t put up the stats for the Colts, I do think a guy like Campbell is a huge upgrade over what we had last year. He’s 6’ 205 with 4.31 speed. Same with Mims, has been in a bad QB situation, but has a ton of talent
I’m not sure Campbell and Mims would even be upgrades. We need someone legit.

As usual, we don't have a lot of FA money to play with, but one guy I'd go after is Mecole Hardman. We all saw what a different a go-route maven could make, even with a 33yo washed up TY Hilton. Hardman is both a guy we could sign cheap and one who could live up to his contract.

And Brandin Cooks is still a guy I want to trade for. Maybe the Texans will come down on their draft pick asking price.

Neither mentioned has done anything in their careers, one missed a ton of games the other has been a healthy scratch for most of his career, these are like James Washington type of signings to me. Get OBJ/Allen or trade for Cooks, Hopkins, Juedy.
You’re talking about OBJ as a sure thing? Good luck with that. To each their own, but I’m definitely not willing to gamble on having a healthy and motivated OBJ for a 17 game season.

And I think you are missing the bigger picture. You’re talking about trading Cooper for a 5th and then trading higher pick(s) for someone like Hop/Allen/Cooks…only to pay them virtually the same $, if not more. That’s a monumental mistake in team building. Juedy I can definitely be talked into, but not sure why Payton would want to trade him or what the cost would be.

Yea, if we’re unable to secure one of the bigger name vets via trade Hardman is one of my top FA targets.

You kinda have to manufacture touches for him but do think he’d give us a deep threat.

OBJ has upside and won't break the bank, many believe his market value will be similar to Gallup's deal. Juedy might be available as the Broncos need draft picks. Think the only way they trade for Cooks if they can rework his deal. Hopkins is probably not an option as he wants a big extension. Got to also factor in Gallup's deal, which they can get out of next offseason if he continues to struggle. There should be others that become available, but they need to prioritze filling the need.

Agree, the top list is average players that you would have to overpay for. They might have to trade for one. As for depth, they could sign a player like Randall Cobb as the #4 receiver to protect against Tolbert/Semi or draft another one to compete for the job.

I like Hardman too, but he never has been a great receiver with the Chiefs, despite have the best QB. Do like Cooks, but they would have to rework his deal.

Trade / FA + early draft pick.

Michael Thomas is an intriguing name. I wonder if the Saints would consider moving him and eating some contract.
If the Saints were to move him my gut tells me that Sean Payton would beat Jerry to the punch.

My 3 favs in the draft that I think will be in range for us to get are Mingo, J Reed, and Dell. Mingo is too big to press, and just quick enough to make the corner fear trying it. Reed is a great mix of size, speed, and explosive off the line, and cuts. That usually equates to being open. He actually reminds me a lot of CeeDee. Dell is Cole Beasley with track speed. I don't care how small he is, he'll be open, and will constantly make the defense move.
