That's true, but the reason you look stupid is because you have no feeling in your feet. I've had to do that once in basic training, and it sucks. You get feeling back (about 3-4 minutes) and you can walk fine. The foot gets blood back in about 3 seconds, so I know it wasn't just from a lack of blood.
No, the docs are prohibited to only three shots a year...it might heal after just one...
And your other point, not only is sitting crossed legged like that prevent a lack of blood flow, it also affects the mucles and nerves from sitting in a position that you are not sitting in all the time and are not used too, and I'm sure that Newman does not sit cross legged during practice or games...
