What would a new incoming coach feel about Dak Prescott?

These issues we are in now are a result of catering to Dak all this time…. The Commanders finally turned the corner, but the Giants and them, have been absolute disasters for Dak’s entire career here. This paper dividing with a superior roster deluded Jerry into thinking Dak was good enough to get it done.

Dak was great when he ran the ball. He has always had a problem with accuracy but his legs made up for it plus it calmed him down. He doesn’t run now because he is injury prone so he lost edge. We should have not paid him. His is past his prime. Another poor decision paying him.
You clearly missed 2017 and 2018, especially prior to the Cooper trade. Dak was never “great”. He has a good 2016 season, with the easiest schedule in football. When he played the Ravens and Giants, he was actually exposed.

He had the top ranked OL that had Zeke averaging 5 YPC on first down. Then teams learned they could just sit on the Cole Beasley routes and he imploded, because he just focuses on one WR receiver. That was once again revealed against with Amari Cooper, when after the Eagles game, Dak’s numbers went up against man, but he was still awful against zone and he was just a check down Charlie that had more picks than TDs. The Cowboys were shut out against the Colts that year who were a heavy cover 2 team that shadowed Amari,

Likely true however there’s time throughout his tenure that hasn’t been true like parcells like Switzer etc

Not sure that guy exists to hire. Belichick is so stoic that it leaves a PR vacuum. However, Bill would get the lion share credit of any success if he was hired. Switzer was in basic retirement when he came on and the same with Parcells. It would be the same with Bill. When he hires some young up and coming, larger than life personality, skins on the wall assistant head coach that loves football to be head coach (and hands over final personnel and coaching choices) then that would represent real change.

Any serious coach or desired coach wouldn’t take the job knowing their success is tied to the player- so I’d say they feel comfortable with him when they or if they accept the job.
I agree with this completely. If you come in as a head coach you have already decided this guy fits your scheme...otherwise you've set yourself up for failure.

If it's Coach with full on-the-field control and given selection of staff...........A hug, a few tears, followed by "I'm sorry you had to go through this."

A top priced QB with some longstanding weaknesses come the playoffs coming of half a season just as bad and with a season ending injury.

Lowest perceived value of his career but he *has* played well in most of the past.

Dak is not the worst QB situation in the league but I'd consider it a negative that should keep top coaching talent away.
.....wouldn't he look at film......tape on last night alone was a comedy show.

Any new coach is going to feel about Dak, exactly how Jerry tells him to feel. That's going to be part of the "interview" process and anyone who doesn't want Dak, won't get the job. This is why they fail.

He would walk into situation where he has an established Qb. Not a rookie or inexperienced Qb that he will have to mold

It has to do alot about the roster and the coaches scheme

Case in point, Sean Payton wasn't compatible with Russell Wilson but since the split both coach and player have thrived separately.

Gonna have to find the right HC for Rayne Dakota.....since he's gonna be here a while longer
An established QB that plays like a deer caught in the headlights if you make the playoffs.

Or puts up most of his stats in garbage time against prevent defenses.

Russel Wilson is twice the QB Dak will ever be

But hey you have a few more years of hearing Dak state he’s learning after every loss…

Unless anyone on here is that new coach, we’ll never know - no matter how many folks on here like to assume they know what others are thinking. Unless that new HC literally gets Jerry to show Dak the exit into unemployment…

Don't worry jerry will get and old coach he can control so he can shoot his big mouth off since he doesn't know anything about football management who cares and for 30 years we know his football IQ

The next HC of the Cowboys will be an even bigger puppet than any HC in Cowboys history. Jerry is going to tell him who plays and who sits.

A new coaching staff is what Dak needs. He is what he is- an upper middle-tier quarterback.

If you give him a running game, more than one receiver, solid protection, and good support from his defense, Dak will win you a lot of games.

The Cowboys have none of that this season and we see the results. Even as a Dak fan, I realize he is not (and never was) the type of quarterback that can single-handedly carry an entire roster. However, how many quarterbacks are?

If you want proof that it takes an entire team to win, look at Joe Burrow and look at his stats. Now look at the Bengals' record. He can't do it alone.
Dak could not hold JB's jock . Its laughable to even compare the 2 . Joe is a QB1 , Dak is a back up has been at best . And yeah Joe can't do it alone , BUT , he looks good . Dak looks / looked like crap. You comparing Filet mignon to dog food .

Put your Dak jammies away

We back to entering his pockets again.....sounds like a Pickpockets Union Rep. Every starting QB, outside of a rookie contract deal is being paid......and just like Dak's predecessor.
It is a half-hearted effort to simply dismiss the "All-In" claim and see nothing to help this team, improve this team, and the build on this team. That's what you have if you refuse to be distracted or attentive to a market value contract increased by Jerry dealing late or refusing to sign him. Blame the old man with money.
Dark sucks, get it through your thick head. Everyone is tired of hearing excuses and we are ready for him to be gone. Unfortunately you can get use to seeing more and more comments like this as you have four years of badgering when you insult people’s intelligence. It a consensus fact that he sucks and Jo I’ve will take him or want him. I wanted him to go to another team to prove just how bad he is, bc what you saw this season is exactly what would happen on any other team. Three and out leads to high scores, turnover high scores, worse yet turnover on short fields guess what higher scores. Get out of here with the nonsense

1. How do I make this work with a guy who may possilby have a bum right wheel?

2. What is my fall back position if it turns out that the Dak I get in 2025 is a shell of his former self? Who do I have who can tunr this offence and team around that doesn't rely on him making critical decisions.

The obvious answer is to invest in a run game and the o-line to go with it. It would be along term investment that would potentially outlive Dak's time on the team and be a benefit for the next QB.

You can't be in a better place if you have a run game that can get first downs without relying on your QB all the time. You just need a QB who can be effective in the passing game when it is needed to complement a run game.
Dal ate up your ability to get anyone on offense, any money that we do have needs to go to defense. No matter how good your run game is they aren’t scoring at will to overcome what the other team is doing. This has been Dallas problem throughout Daks time. Invest all the cap on offense and defense gets what’s left over. Up until this year that is why Dak faults have been overlooked of all the talent around him. He’s been through the best oline, two top wr1, a league leading rb, etc. All the while having a defense that is made out of scraps

If we had gotten the rookie version of Burrow, Allen, Stroud or even Jayden Daniels, there little doubt in my mind we would have been in the SB with that 2016 roster.....very little doubt

No coach who isnt watching the sun set on his career is comming to work with our GM....They see what the GM does and who the hell needs that life?
MM sucked 30 million out of Jerry after crawling in from the barn and saying he loved the players the QB and how he knew how to win SBs. It’s going to be some coach looking for a payday they already know the baggage that comes with the job and I’m sure they will pack their PJs for the interview
