What would a so called "win now" mock draft look like?

I believe this team will either draft for the future to get out of big contracts or as Jerry said yesterday immediate impact rookies. how would that look like:

-RB, LG, TE, NT & probably a CB

1-Schmitz/Torrence/Avilia (Maybe a small trade back to land a Guard, depth is poor at the position, picking up an extra 3rd) Could do the same with TE.
2-Benton DT Wisconsin (Can play either 1 or the 3 and has some rush abilities)
3a-Darius Rush/Eli Ricks CB
3b-LaPorta/Scoonmaker TE
4-Best available RB Johnson/Miller/Abanikanda

Probably G / RB / TE in rounds 1-3 in no particular if I had to guess what the Cowboys might do if they try to draft targeting positions instead of talent.

I just threw up thinking about it.

I would draft for the future and hope to get 1-2 immediate impact players, but with them they may do the opposite thinking they are close

You just never know how long a player will take to develop.

If they take a LG at 26, there is no guarantee that player is better than Chuma.

Plus it’d be a shame not to walk out of this draft with a DE and CB seeing to how loaded it is.

I agree about LG RB and tight end The first three rounds. The question of use of resources isn’t Jermaine in my opinion in building a team. Now the cap spread is understandable and logical. I don’t know that we have a chance this season but I like action.

I would guess that some combination of those three positions are our top three picks, especially if we re-sign Hankins and Watkins at DT like the Joneses have mentioned. (Even if we don't sign them, I can't see the Joneses using a first-rounder on an NT, and I'm not sure there's one there worth taking. At best, I see them drafting one in the third round.)

Man I hope not…taking 3 low value positions first would be brutal.
Near the bottom of the first you can get the best at the low-value positions instead of the fifth- or sixth-best at a higher-value position. I have no problem with that. If we go with Kincaid, Mayer, Washington Robinson, Gibbs or Torrence, then I think we get a top player at their position who can lock down that position for the next five years. Not that I wouldn't prefer to get a top DT and really address that position, but I don't know if the value is going to be right.

I like Schmitz if no one falls to us such as DE, CB, RB, OT.
Torrance worries me. 3 tech like Donald will run circles around him. Less mobile with last year Zion Johnson.

rest I’m ok with.

Win now and forever mock

Kancey 3-tech
Ika 1-tech
Henley LB
Johnson Rb
Pace LB
Mallory TE
Forsyth OG/OC

If this team is going to win it will be because of a dominant defense with no holes. When Osa is the 2nd best 3 tech and Hankins is the 2nd best 1-tech and sufficient depth at LB is achieved, turnovers will be abundent, short fields will be plenty, early leads established and every game will look like last years Vikings game.

I think you only take an interior OL in the first round is only good of you are getting a guy like Frederick or Martin. Or to be more fair 90% of Frederick or Martin. Anything less is a waste of an asset. There isnt any interior OL in the class that will likely be 80% of Frederick or Martin

In a class with no blue chippers at
TE or interior OL I’ll take the 5th rated WR / CB / DE all day every day. Those guys are close on consensus big boards and play value positions.

RB will pretty much always be a no in the 1st.

Schmitz is my favorite interior lineman in the class, Torrance also worries me, think he is more suited to be a right guard.

Drafting a corner is still high priority for me, don't want to be in a situation again like the end of last yr. One injury away and we are relying on a 33 yr old corner to stay healthy. Drafting a corner in the top 3 rounds is a must.

No issue in drafting defensive lineman, but expect a big developmental period. Usually takes a full yr for most.

You saw my last mock, I'm for building for the future, getting out of some big contracts and focusing on high valued positions early on. However, they might see as the last yr before they hand out big extensions, where the talent could fall off and rely on more younger players.

-We know they are drafting a RB somewhere in the top 4 rounds, wouldn't surprise us if they take one in any rd.
-They just lost their #1 TE who was the team's 2nd receiving option, only assistant to attend combine was their TE coach, very possible then draft one this yr, we just don't know if it's going to be an elite one or another 4th round type.
-With what Jerry just said this week, even if he was wrong about the OL, they need to draft a starting caliber guard.

The only offensive lineman that makes sense in rd 1 is Schmitz, unless they view Tyler as a future LG. Taking Schmitz would mean they would be upgrading the Center position which is a more high valued one.
