Twitter: What would Dak's contract value be right now if they didn't resign him?

Yea, both are bad but at least Dallas isn’t in the Browns territory. On top of losing six draft picks, Watson also has a no-trade clause with a dead cap hit of 172 million if they wanted to move on after the season. I would rather be in our position than theirs.
Sorry bro...the Dallas Cowboys are just as bad. We are now in bottom feeding territory like the Browns for several years.

I dont get those who say that he's worth 40-50m when there are QBs earning less than 10m who are just as good.

To answer the thread question. The answer is zero. We would not be resigning him.

I don’t disagree, just saying I’m glad Dallas didn’t lose those draft picks in a trade for Dak is all.

I don't see anyone offering 60 mil.
The Browns are hamstrung with Watson.
The Steelers have Watson.
Saints have Carr.
Dolphins are in with Tua.

And Houston didn't have trouble replacing Watson with Stroud. If we are such an outstanding draft team should be no problem replacing this guy.

And I don't think any team would have thrown 60 mil on the table after last year's playoffs. Most likely prove it money would have been there.

Not the worst deal on history when you factor in JaMarcus Russell, but very close.

The rest of the team are not idiots. They've seen the playbook cut down, half the field taken away from his read, hear his rhetoric, and maybe fear speaking out on any of this. But they've played with better QBs in college so they know what to expect. This guy ain't cutting it. And they know that too.

He doesn't lift their play, in many ways he limits what this team could do. So those receivers running lazy routes? Well, they know he won't even look their way.

Now who is going to pay 60 mil knowing all the limitations he brings to the table?

Except Booger, I mean.

The Dak deal actually saves the Cowboys money. If Dallas let him play out his deal and walk he would have counted $25 million in dead money against the cap in 2025 (remember his 2021 deal included two "ghost" seasons that Dallas could push future money into).

Cap-wise the Cowboys are now in great shape for the next couple of years. The problem is they could have done the Dak and Lamb deals back in March and saved that money in 2024. That would have allowed them to build a more competitive team than this.

They are paying the price for sitting on their butts all offseason.

No other club would have offered him that contract

It'll take years to undo this damage.

"More competitive"

Dak will never lead us anywhere.
It's truly.... the only thing he's proven

Lol. Dak would have easily gotten $60MM+ as a FA. That you don’t know that underlines your misunderstanding of just how difficult it is to get a QB of Dak’s caliber in the NFL. At the end of his contract, MAYBE he’ll be in the top 10 QBs by salary.

Doesn’t matter. You and everyone else that thinks QBs are plug and play are delusional. The same group somehow thinks a team can lose 4-5 starters on defense, start rookies on the OL, have no RB (def the FO’s fault), have one legit receiver, and somehow a different QB would change the outcome. It wouldn’t.

Whatever it would have been it would still have been an overpay. Yes, even at vet minimum.
