If the Cowboys hadn't resigned him before the season and let's assume he played the exact same way, what would his contract value be right at this very minute? 40M AAV?

Also, name the NFL teams that would be fighting tooth and nail to sign him. Raiders? Who else?

Jerry Jones has made a catastrophic mistake.
Exactly the same. Think of it like this. Kirk Cousins, who is wildly considered inferior as a QB, was 5 years older and coming off a major Achilles injury and signed for 45m. 60m was basically the floor of what he would get no matter what happens the rest of the year.

There is always a couple teams that will take a chance. His price would come down somewhere between what carr and cousins got.

The way QB salaries go right now I don't think it would make a difference. Not making excuses for Dak but it's clear he does not have the protection, running game, or receivers outside of Lamb that he needs to produce at a high level. Having said that I think he is pressing and taking too many unnecessary risks with the football.

As for the teams in need that would probably have gone after Dak, I would say the Raiders, Giants, Panthers, Browns, Dolphins, Patriots, Jets, Saints, Steelers, Seahawks, and Titans would all have varied levels of interest if he would have become available.
Sounds like a bunch of excuses. If he were mobile he could at least create and buy more time for some plays to open up. He slow both physically and mentally. He sucks and now the team around him can’t cover up all his shortcomings

I get the anti-Dak sentiment right now, but you're all acting like agents and the NFL Players Association doesn't exist.

Any deal Dak would have gotten on the open market next year would have been similar to the one the Cowboys gave him. Period.
No, this would mean Bakers contract should move been 50-55 but Baker knows what he needs. Dak hasn’t a clue how bad he is and now he’s out of excuses and can’t point the finger at anyone in year 9

How many guys on the Cowboys offense would even start on the Lions? CeeDee, Tyler Smith, anyone else? Zack Martin vs Kevin Zeitler is probably a push at this point in their careers.

If Dak upgraded 7 out of the 10 starters around him, and Goff downgraded 7 out of 10 starters around him, both QBs would give you very different results.
This must be joke, Goff is head and shoulders better than Dal. It’s not even a debate, Goff had nothing when he went to the lions. He had bad oline, no wr, and looked like a stud when he got there. He’s only looked better each year and he throws the ball with accuracy and anticipation. Just flat out in a different league then Tara age time hero

Patrick Mahomes putting up Daniel Jones level numbers so far but is undefeated:

Jones: 6 pass TDs, 4 interceptions Mahomes: 6 pass TDs, 8 interceptions

But this Dak contract is a cataclysmic error.
Everybody pushed it, many on this site and many Dallas media people on twitter were insistent, they gushed over Dak's 2023 regular season to the point of throwing up and Jerry caved.

They knew in their gut there was something wrong with Prescott, that's why they waited so long but in the end they caved to the Dallas and National media.

Mahomes has been much better situationally especially on 3rd down, Dak can't hit the broad side of a barn on 3rd down. He can't even complete a pass on a GWD attempt

If Mahomes had Cee Dee Lamb he would lead the league in every category.

The sad thing is I'm not sure on the open market he gets paid what we paid him. His next contract unless he plays lights out his last year will definitely be for less in relation with other quarterbacks.

Only dumb organizations like the Giants, Panthers, and Raiders would've paid Deshaun Prescott 60+ million a year.

He would have commanded the same salary in the open market. This is a QB driven league and starting QBs are hard to come by no matter how "mediocre" some here think certain players are.

You guys are probably rightly going to tell me why we can't do this, but I propose a radical solution: the David Justice solution. We trade Dak by agreeing to pay half his salary. Other than consigning both JJ and JJJr to an insane asylum, it's probably the only hope we have of rebuilding, which we should have started to do yesterday. Let Martin go, don't pay Parsons; keep Lamb, spend everything/draft everything on DTs and OL. You build up the middle.

If they hadn’t resigned Dak, Jerry would feel like a genius right now and would just let Dak walk. Then in FA teams would watch the film and see how badly Dak moves around now and how his arm is shot (he’s wound up several times to try to throw a 50 yd bomb and it comes up 10 yds short every time) and he wouldn’t get anywhere near 60 million. The Raiders or someone along those lines would give him about half of that and his career would be over in a year or two.

My guess is at the conclusion of this year someone would have given him 25-30 million a year. After the season he is having I thinks that what he would garner. And he would be a stop gap for a team. He’s not going to get better and needs an excellent team around him.
Nope.
At least 45-50
As earlier poster said there isn’t a market for 25-30 a year
