Twitter: What would Dak's contract value be right now if they didn't resign him?

He would have commanded the same salary in the open market. This is a QB driven league and starting QBs are hard to come by no matter how "mediocre" some here think certain players are.
From which team?

Everybody pushed it, many on this site and many Dallas media people on twitter were insistent, they gushed over Dak's 2023 regular season to the point of throwing up and Jerry caved.

They knew in their gut there was something wrong with Prescott, that's why they waited so long but in the end they caved to the Dallas and National media.
Not really that many on this site.

The Joneses caved in, assumed all risk, and grossly overpaid.

In a long list of salary cap mismanagement, this ranks as the absolute worst.

Lol @ ‘they grossly overpaid’.

Dak would’ve easily signed for $60MM/yr as a free agent, and we’d have no QB for who knows how many years.

Our record this year is not on Dak.

The sad thing is I'm not sure on the open market he gets paid what we paid him. His next contract unless he plays lights out his last year will definitely be for less in relation with other quarterbacks.
I wonder what Phenom Trance's contract looks like next year.

You guys keep saying this, but cannot name who would pay him that, aside from some vague Raider dart throws.

Exactly which team are you saying would've signed him for 60?

Raiders and Giants are for sure. Steelers MIGHT be happy with Wilson right now but that probably will not last long. Colts seem done with Richardson. Jets are likely out on Rodgers after this year unless his play massively improves. That is also ignoring the 5-6 bad teams that might mistakenly think they are closer than they are, plus a wild card that always appears when these negotiations are happening.

That's better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe any of those would've paid him 60, but at least you put up some possibilities!!!!!!!

I do not believe, BTW, that any of those teams would've come close to that 60 mil figure. It's only some fans on here who believe that, to the rest of the NFL he's been exposed.

If the Cowboys hadn't resigned him before the season and let's assume he played the exact same way, what would his contract value be right at this very minute? 40M AAV?

Also, name the NFL teams that would be fighting tooth and nail to sign him. Raiders? Who else?

Jerry Jones has made a catastrophic mistake.

Said it A million times on this board since 2019…Dak is the most expensive mistake in cowboys history . A cancer that has eroded the team .
jerry is the bigger cancer however .

Totally made a big mistake. I knew this season was going to be a trainwreck.
I still can't believe that they gave a no trade/no tag clause to Dak like he really deserved it.

This contract is going to be the worst contract ever signed in league history thanks to Jerry.

Not all of us unfortunately.

A huge portion of this fanbase wanted them to sign him because they didnt want to relive “the post-aikman QB carousel”
Not me. Im sure others were thinking the same.

I bet Jerry waited till the last minute just so that he create some drama. He probably threw in no clause/no trade to sweeten the deal even though Dak didn't ask for it.

I’d say Watson’s was a bit worse. Imagine giving up three first round picks and then some

Both contracts will be devastating for many years to come. If Jerry only had a clue he would not have signed it. I bet he made up all this drama about Dak wanting a big contract, etc. That way it can be all over the media.

These teams you mentioned better have an all-world supporting cast to make signing Dak worth it. I guess if you have the money to do that in FA, then maybe he gets 40-45 mil max after stinking the joint up here. Jerry set Dak up to be exposed for what he is this year...then went ahead and paid him more than anyone else would. It is the dumbest move I've ever seen in football.

Yea, both are bad but at least Dallas isn’t in the Browns territory. On top of losing six draft picks, Watson also has a no-trade clause with a dead cap hit of 172 million if they wanted to move on after the season. I would rather be in our position than theirs.
