What Would It Take For Prescott To Pass Romo On The All Time Dallas QB List?

I hope he passes him in yardage, accolades, playoff wins and superbowls....likely will not happen but IF it did happen then we would all have things to be happy about.

I mean I think a SB cures all, so winning a SB would like surpass Romo in most fans eyes.

Tony never had a defense like this (heck most QBs haven’t), nor did he ever have an Oline like the 2016 line or dare I say even 2023 line. I hate to say it but I believe Tony might’ve won the SB in 2016, and if he had this 2023 team, I’d feel the same. I also think Dak can win one with this team. This D might be generational.

I think if Dak takes them to the SB, he surpasses Tony by default.

Since I'm a old head my top Dallas QB list is. 1. Aikman 2. Staubach 3. White 4. Romo 5. Dak
Here are the career stats:

Tony: YDS: 34,183 10 Seasons as starter. I don't count 1st or last year
TD: 248
INT: 117
Rating: 97

DAK: YDS: 25,086 7 Seasons as Starter
TD: 166
INT: 65
Rating: 97

If Dak stays at this pace for 3 more years, he'll surpass Romo in the stats department. To me a NFC championship game will put him over.
To heck with the stats, I would be happier if he would just start producing in the post season. And take a team friendly contract too.

Not saying this to be funny but I really don’t think Dak is going to be a starter for the next 3 years. He’ll be touted and trotted out as the next great backup in the league once his contract with Dallas ends and no one signs him to his high paying demands.
You may not have meant it to be funny, but it was funny.

For Dak to pass Romo, he has to take the team to the conference championship game.
If he wins the Super Bowl, he becomes one of the Cowboys trinity with Staubach and Aikman.

It's all about the rings.

Oh, I don’t know. Dak will not get credit from some.

This is what will be posted.

Tony did not have a defense.
Tony had Garrett for a coach
Dak did not win, the team won.
I'll ignore that folly as well...

If he were to lead the Cowboys to a conference title game that might be enough. That alone would give him a better playoff record than Romo.

I hate to break this to you but right now the NFL GMs, Scouts, Coaches, and Executives, who you think not only won’t pay him big money, but would not view Dak as a starter, have him as a top 10 QB. Let me just reiterate that, the people who you think wont view him as top 32 view him as top 10. You could not be more wrong if you tried.

Let's see how he handles a real defense this coming Sunday vs. the Jets.
Hopefully Doomsday can give him another easy one as if we have to rely on his arm God help us.

That's funny. You don't can't Romo's 1st year or his last as a starter due to injuries, but you definitely count all 7 years for Dak even though he has missed a whole season in total due to injuries?

Talk about a double standard. Totally not cool.

Agree. Conference Championship Game. Something Romo never could do. Even Danny White drove the team to 3 of them.

Hilarious thread.

Dak already passed Romo. Dak and the 2016 Cowboys should have been in the NFC Championship Game if it wasn't for the crooked refs helping out Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Also, Dak has already thrown for 300+ yards and 3+ TDs in several playoff games, something Romo never accomplished.

Even though Dak and Romo are tied in playoff wins (2), Dak was the one who finally broke a 30 year franchise drought by helping win an away playoff game since 1993.

It's just a matter of time (3 years) before Dak (if he stays healthy) breaks most of Romo's franchise records, especially the most career passing yards and TDs.

I don't care about stats - we could argue those all day.

While wins are not really a QB stat they are a QB perception stat. Getting to an NFC title game puts Dak ahead of Romo, if he gets there.
