What Would It Take For Prescott To Pass Romo On The All Time Dallas QB List?

Romo would have killed to have the 2023 Dallas Cowboys defense. With it, Romo would have killed.

Dak, at the money he is making - he won’t last long with the way he is playing. When you’re making the big bucks - you gotta hit the big-money shots.

I realize he can’t catch his own passes - but there are plenty of open receivers left unattended because Dak has locked onto his primary target leading to unnecessary throws into traffic.

Since I'm a old head my top Dallas QB list is. 1. Aikman 2. Staubach 3. White 4. Romo 5. Dak
Here are the career stats:

Tony: YDS: 34,183 10 Seasons as starter. I don't count 1st or last year
TD: 248
INT: 117
Rating: 97

DAK: YDS: 25,086 7 Seasons as Starter
TD: 166
INT: 65
Rating: 97

If Dak stays at this pace for 3 more years, he'll surpass Romo in the stats department. To me a NFC championship game will put him over.
Stats mean less than nothing.

DaK Duncescott and Tony Shlomo don’t have the iq to reach that upper tier of playoff status qb like mahones and hurts :thumbup:

You don’t have Trey Lance on your list?

Show the tapes that support your analysis. Let's see those open receivers that Dak has missed while supposedly locked on to his primary target.

Not saying this to be funny but I really don’t think Dak is going to be a starter for the next 3 years. He’ll be touted and trotted out as the next great backup in the league once his contract with Dallas ends and no one signs him to his high paying demands.
Having an elite defense and switching to the West Coast Offense might change all that,,, this tailored offensive style should suit Dak better.

Romo developed talent as a QB that was better than every Dallas QB except possible Roger. Find me one GM that thought Romo couldn’t win the SB or was at fault for the team never winning a SB. Unfortunately, outside of Parcells, he was saddled with average to subpar coaching and pre-McClay personnel decisions, aka Jerry Jones, the guy who said the team doesn’t need an offensive line because it had Tony as his QB. And T-RO already posted stats about how terrible to average most of his defenses were except for one in 2009 compared to Dak, and contrary to what both Roger and Troy had leading teams to win SBs, both having #1 defenses in the league at times. In other words, Dak is already in a superior team position in practically all aspects over the years compared to Tony. This individual player is better or worse because the team went farther or didn’t is devoid of a wholistic analysis and a category error.

You do realize that if Romo had
this defense they might have won a SB.
Romo might have won a SB in 2016. The RB and Oline were that dominant. And Romo had been equally dominant in 2014. Almost Antonio could have been Elway. Carries the team for years, but gets rings when he gets a dominant run game.

And the comparison to Elway shows why Dak is not Romo.

How many seasons has Dak "carried the team"? I'd say 0.

How many years did Romo carry the team? Quite a few.

I can't believe I'm defending Romo but let's compare the teams they played on.
It's been decades since I've seen a Cowboys team this stacked on both sides of the ball even a return guy.
I would dare say Tony would have beaten SF both play-off games, who knows where we could have ended up.
That said I'd trade both for a Roger/Troy.
It's a team game, but a QB alone can deliver or cost you a win.
Dak hasn't delivered against SF, and in clutch situations Tony struggled also.
So until somebody wins a super bowl, who cares?

Romo had a RB that had the best season a Dallas RB ever had. Ever. He also had HOFers to throw to and he had ample defenses.
Romo would have killed for a handful of "do overs" in his career.

SF would have put Romo into retirement.

Dak is going to be a June 2024 cut.

Oh, I don’t know. Dak will not get credit from some.

This is what will be posted.

Tony did not have a defense.
Tony had Garrett for a coach
Dak did not win, the team won.
They wasted Romo’s best years.

Wasted them.

That’s on Jerry.

A couple things. I liked Danny White. But he was not a better QB than Romo. Sometimes the team around you plays a role. Like all of the time. For the same reason Dak isn't a better QB than Romo.
