No, I heard about them the first time.

I don't recall him losing his job - or even being fined by the league. I don't see how any 'backlash' could be considered equal.

You think he deserved to be cut?

Or lose his starting role?

I am not sure what you mean by "losing his job." Why should he lose his job for dumb comments? Its not like what he did was illegal. Stupidity doesn't get you suspended, nor should it. Otherwise, Owens should be suspended for spitting on DeAngelo Hall.

He had an opinion and voiced it.

Probably would have been better suited to not say anything. But I fail to see any real 'harm' done by his comments to warrant anything to the tune of losing his job.

I would have to agree with you. Whites lose their jobs over these stupid comments and the public outrage is fast and loud. People need to start judging people based on the individual act or comment of the individual and put this color crap behind us it is not doing anyone any good.

Point is others have lost jobs and careers over racial comments. They had an opinion and voiced it and lost their job for it.

Just to be clear:

So what you're saying is that it's OK for Larry Johnson to make these type of comments, but not OK for Imus or Limbaugh?

Johnson didn't really express a hatred for whites, or proclaim his race superior. He didn't suggest that white coaches are only in power because they are white.

All he said was that he doesn't feel he can relate to white coaches, because of his upbringing, and that he doesn't feel a coach like Vermeil could relate to him.

It might be complete horsecrap, but the guy was just expressing his feelings. He wasn't insulting anyone, or making racist/racially degrading comments.

If you don't see that as racist or insulting, anything I can say would be wasting my time.

By all means, take a stand. Make some black friends and cavalierly use the N word around them. Let me know how that works out.

There's nothing wrong with Johnson expressing his feelings. It was stupid to do so, knowing that people would overreact, but nothing was wrong.

I have friends who happen to be black. They're my friends because they are my friends, not because of what they look like.

There's everything wrong with Johnson making his comments. He shows how ignorant he is and shows that unfortunately racism is still alive and well.

Get your head on straight, before you continue whining about how unfair the world is for Don Imus.

If Johnson's job was to be a talking head, he still wouldn't have gotten fired. Imus insulted an entire group of girls with slurs associated with the black race. Maybe if Johnson had said that he couldn't listen to these redneck crackers he'd have been punished. But he didn't say anything remotely offensive, unless you're just looking to get offended.

All comments are not made equal, neither is the follow-up. Not saying anyone should lose their job. But outrage is outrage. It's up to the organization how they choose to respond.

He's not saying that at all. If you read closer, he's saying he was better off not saying anything.

And I think all the comments by each person you mentioned would've been better left unsaid publicly. There will never be a day where such things can be discussed rationally.

It's a waste of time because it's not so - not because "I can't see it."

It's impossible to see things that aren't there.

I'm ecstatic for you.

There's a difference between "nappy headed hoes" and "I can relate better to an African American coach."

If you can't see that, then there isn't a point in debating this further.

Is it too much to have a reasonable argument and not go over the line anymore?

Locked until cooler heads prevail.

Keep the blinders on. The fact is that it's wrong no matter who's saying it. I'm not giving anybody a free pass - unlike you.

My sense is that Larry Johnson will have to clarify his statement at some point in time. Especially in light of the fact that he is Pursuing another franchize ...coupled with the fact that his coach may not be African-American.

I'm sure the media will not just let this whole ordeal just go away.

Only Jerry and Carl Peterson know if that rumor is true and neither is talking.

That's usually when things start getting good where Jerry is concerned! He lets the rumormill get hyper and then calm, and then he uppercuts it right in once everybody has convinced themselves it's never going to happen. Happen with Dieon. Happen with Big Bill. Happen with TO. And that's just off the top of my head.

When Dallas' name is not being included and yet we know we do have interest, many times that when we're most included. It's the luxary of having a big business man running this team like Jerry.

I seriously doubt we have any interest. This was just speculation.

JJ21 ...although you responded to my question with a question, I get your point. So you guys really think he'll fit in the lockerroom having made the controversial comments that he made?

He's got skills on the field, but what about his mental game?!

A Banana Daiquiri don't look so good to bananas. Just kidding. But the real question as it relates to your analogy is ...

How do coaches deal with yet another potential for a ... media magnet for the team?!
