Now that I have both Roy and TO on the outside, I'd still run the ball. There won't be 8 men in the box...run, run, run.
That means stay out of the shotgun and run more play-action passes. Yes, I know you can hand the ball to a back from the shotgun, but those play-action fakes aren't nearly as effective as from under center. I think we use shotgun way too often. I would only go to it in obvious long yardage passing downs.
With the play-action pass, I'd have Roy or TO running a slant on almost every play...not the quick blitz slant, but the 5-7 yard, make an out or up move and then slant...both of these guys run that pattern well, and it's perfect off the play-action. Then I'd have the other guy running a slower developing double-move pattern.
I'd run, run, run....then I'd look for the slant and big play as my progression off the play-action fake. Then finally, I'd start running both WR's on deeper patterns, keeping the safety back, and look for Witten ripping the seam up the middle against LBs and the occasional SS.
This means we're going to see a lot of Barber, Choice, and later Felix on LBs in the flats...I like that.
Personally, I like Crayton, but I'd keep him on the sideline more and more. I'd go with two top-notch WRs and 2 TE's (sometimes both on the line; sometimes one as the blocking back)...This would keep most defenses away from the nickel, so they'd have to respect the run with lbs instead of extra DB's....that's pass heaven for Witten and our RBs out of the backfield...and it creates more room for TO and Roy...the more receivers you put back there with more DB's, the less room there is to operate because when Romo extends a play, receivers are always running into another defender's area.
Simple, but when you have the playmakers, there's no reason to get too fancy.
