Using your logic, why are you here if the Cowboys will never win as long as the Jones are running the show?
..I guess being in playoffs last two years, counts for nothing. Most likely a third with this year. But maybe, thats not winning.

When the pre-season with all its hype and predictions ended, we as fans and the Cowboys sports media all pointed out the many strengths of this team coupled with the areas of the team where we are vulnerable. This is a very talented football team. But, like all NFL teams, it does have problems.

In my view the three biggest vulnerabilities and question marks about this team showed up yesterday:
  1. The OL depth is a concern- we all knew go into the season that Tyron Smith is a ticking time bomb for an injury. Then Tyler Biadz went down and Zack Martin too. Suddenly having 3 backup lineman for one game was a problem. Edoga looked awful at LT. Apparently Tyler Smith’s ham is still too tender to allow him to play LT. We all have loved TJ Bass and his UFA story. But he’s still very raw with a lot to learn.
  2. The inability to stop the run has dogged this team for years- are we back to this being a problem? This team gave up 185 yards in the first half! And our LBs looked out position or easily blocked by the cards most of the day. I don’t think we’re as bad against the run as we saw yesterday but it has been a problem for so long, it does make you wonder.
  3. This team has been mentally soft for most of the last 27 years, regardless of coaches. For far too long, the Cowboys have been soft. Especially mentally. Adversity strikes and this team stumbles. Not 100% of the time of course, but far too often.
It’s a long season and we still have 14 games left. No need to push any panic buttons. But the above problems are not a surprise. This team’s ability to improve in those areas will say a lot about our chances of post season success.
Yesterday reminded me of "I'll believe it if I see it" when it comes to title hopes. I was starting to buy in, and then we see an all too familiar flop.

It wouldn’t be hard to dismiss a loss like this….if this wasn’t such a recurring habit over decades of being squishy soft against inferior talent. The cards looked like a playoff team yesterday and they’re in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes.

We’ve had 7 HCs since Jimmy left. Other than a few times under the Big Tuna, this team has too often been soft under every HC who coincidentally has had less authority over the players than Jimmy had.

As the late George Young once said, "depth is great until you have to use it." Missing 3 offensive linemen is going to hurt any team. But the Cowboys did get 416 yards of offense yesterday and 185 yards rushing. No doubt the pass protection was not great and Dak was clearly rushing his throws at times, but any team missing its LT, C and RG, all 3 all-pros at one time or another, is going to suffer to some degree.

I think the run defense is really a function of how they play defense. They like to rush the front using all kinds of stunts and twists. There is no gap discipline. If they stay home they can stop the run. The Cards had 182 yards rushing in the first half, but only 40 in the second despite the big lead they had. But I also think their rush defense is a LB problem. LVE had a terrible day yesterday and so did Kearse. LVE seems to be slow recognizing the play and getting to the ball carrier. A few times yesterday he took bad angles and missed the tackle. He is such an enigma to me. He can look great on 5 plays and then look like a lost rookie on the next 10. And where were the safeties yesterday? I did not see them coming up and making plays in the run game like they did against the Giants and Jets.

The Cowboys might need to slow the pass rush down a bit to stop the run early in games and let the offense get a lead. Also, this defense struggles when it does not get sacks and force turnovers.

I don't think this team is soft like teams of the past. I just think they had a bad day yesterday and a lot went wrong. That blown coverage on the 69 yards pass play setting up the TD that put the game out of reach was a microcosm of the entire day. They were flat and outplayed, outcoached and outhustled. I expect this was a one game thing and not who they are.
Some one is seeing and understanding the game...nice review here.

On defense? We have one run stuffing tackle. Named Hankins. At linebacker we have nobody who can put their nose in there and stop the runner in the hole. LVE is a JOKE! Our safties are all over the place and at best average tacklers. Maybe one will lay the wood. His name Wilson. Our corners are now suspect. One to young-maybe. The other definitely to old. Then we have a guy who practice more crawling like a Lion then learning how to cut off the edge at defensive tackle.
On offense. The guys who got paid. Now suddenly stay hurt. We have one stud wide receiver. Tight ends are laughable. I miss Dalton Schultz. And Schultz was no Witten or Novacek. Coaching is a joke-especially Mike McCarthy. And even Quinn showed his sub par by not adjusting until Halftime against the Cardinals running a 12 offense. Two tight ends. Cooks is another oldie we could or should replace. Dallas act like they are scared of speed. Look what Miami does with it. McCarthy offense is BORING-especially this week. Run...run...run...not attacking down field...Pathetic. If I were GM and this continues? I blow it up and hire Lincoln Riley. Once again the blueprint was handed out to the rest of the league. Let's see how McCarthy and Quinn counter it.

He's on record for saying a threepete on 12 wins this season. He has done nothing but support...hey, get the rooting for team part straight here.

Done an analysis of Bass yet? How about Smith's return game?

The cowboys are going down. And this will be the year that fans will actually start to see the emperor has no clothes.
I can't buy into that story line. The Patriots game will be a good look at what type of team the Cowboys have.

Arlington Jonesboys have a leadership problem again. A Coach of Offense (like Garrett) and Coac13 enforced penalties for a total of 107 yards, flagged for several more that were not enforced/accepted by the Cardinalsh of defense (like Son of a Bum). Jerry Dumbo GM Jones remains president, GM, and defacto Head Coach. We know how that ends every season.

Dan Quinn lost his mind with those wide gaps on the D Line to be filled by 2 Linebackers away from the gaps and a Safety that is not Cam Chancellor. My 3 year old grandson could have got 100 yards with those large gaps in the DL. Trying to get 1 on 1 for Parsons does not mean destroy the integrity of your DL and you LB set ups to get him opportunities against a team that showed you they know how to run the ball in both prior games. 227

As for as the OL. When you have a 100 yd rusher and +250 yd passer, your OL is not the problem. It is your QB throwing into triple coverage constantly, your head coach forgetting he kept a FB on the roster for plays inside the 10-20 yard line, and undisciplined leadership and players with 13 enforced penalties for a total of 107 yards, and flagged for several more that were not enforced/accepted by the Cardinals.

I can take a lost when the team is better than you (1967 NFL title game) or get a lucky break (Jackie Smith drops the ball). But dumb coaching and dumb players is not tolerable and has been the Arlington Jonesboys brand of football for the last 27 years.

I don’t understand fans who come here and say they’ve given up all hope as long as the Jones are in charge. Why are they here? Rhetorical question.

You saw it the previous 2 weeks and now you’re becoming a bandwagon fan?

One doesn't really know about football...all involve momentums and how that is then approached...down to game opportunities for bumps in the road.

Have to add - RED ZONE offense on to that list. Not sure if it was a concern coming out of pre-season or not- I didn't watch any pre-season games and they don't play starters much then anyway. So not sure anyone saw that coming, especially being so good in that area last year. It has been glaring the last two games now and they had most of the OL playing against the Jets. I think its more of a play calling issue.

Just when you thought
L

Linebackers on this defense is a major problem. Guys like Bell can't be expected to stop the run consistently. LVE is a liability. Clark looks average at best. It's simple, run the ball at Micah to wear him down. All these guys care about is sacks and it showed yesterday. How many guys were out of position just trying to rush the QB that left lanes wide open. It didn't help that Kearse was taking horrible angles either. That was an undisciplined soft defense yesterday. We give Dan Quinn praise all the time, well he deserves a lot of crap for his unit yesterday.
They don't look like a defense that matches up with the two teams they need to beat, Philly and the 49ers. Both teams have great o-lines and run the ball well. Jury is out on this defense being good enough never mind being doomsday 2.0 lol. Again they got way ahead of their skis talking about being the best defense in the NFL after two freaking games!!!! Shut up and prove it for a whole season. Prove you can win games when it matters. Just shut up.
I hate that they play 2 LBs instead of the traditional 3. Micah needs to be MLB because the dude can tackle and run sideline to sideline. He doesn't always need to rush the passer. He can also drop back and cover the middle but they choose to not even reach him any position just Rush the passer.

This game revealed nothing to me about the teams or their strengths. Zero. I didn't watch the game and haven't watched the extreme profit some gamblers found picking Cardinals for an outright win. I'm sure

It's just a duplicate of the Texans game last year, with slightly worse results.

From the coach's pre-game decisions to the bizarro play on the field where our guys were often playing half-effort or refusing their assignments...there is no other logical conclusion but this:
The rich got richer.

Do you want to hear from this fan what I think the real problem is?

Under the Murchisan ownership, the physical side requirements were respected for success in the game of football. Tom Landry paid the price for system maintenance and success. He maintained the all important standard for excellenve. Jimmy, for a short period afterwards...

When Jerry Jones grabbed the ownership, and lost the chain to the physical side, Jimmy Johnson...the core slid to the famous producer variety of players.

Teams such as today's San Francisco and Philadelphia learned to negotiate play acquisitions and sustaining, have firmly grasped the paying for physical dominant players and not just star potentials that don't mesh as a team physically if some element is then lost. It's all or mostly type of a team. Something is lost, so does the team. A poor gamble for winning. If never held to standard, it is just not going to rise above a gamble level...that still sells.

The Eagles and 49'ers will get there. The Cowboys, may...and for this fan, Jerry, you are on the line.

After one loss in a 17 game marathon? Besides…Most Cowboys fans have known Jerry is a naked emperor for years. But geez, we know the ‘Boys are “going down” after one loss?

it revealed it's hard to play without three starting offensive linemen... it also revealed that there's an adjust to missing Diggs and we have big head syndrome on defense. it revealed how easy it is to lose a a game with a lop snidely called by the refs with penalties and one picked up that should have been enforced on Gallup and others NOT called on them,. It was clear we were behind the chains all game and a hole that was difficult to get out of.....
it's pretty clear that people don't understand the innerworkings of a TEAM and we changed the offense, the offensive coordinator, play caller, OL coach, RB coach all of it plus the plays themselves.

add in we haven't even had our entire starting offensive line in place , then we're missing 3 starting offensive lineman in the same game....

i watched Jalen hurts play just missing his RT tackle alone he's not the same player, take away a TE or wr... they have one of the best offensive lines in football... and yet he has more turnovers this season than Prescott.. let me see him play missing 3 starting OL let alone changing the entire offense on him overnight....Now add in the defense choking the game away with inordinate number of penalties. sure Judge the QB from a hater viewpoint.

here we are judging Prescott in this new offense with clear issues with players missing and it being new, especially with the red zone comments...

i've seen many top ten cornerbacks absolutely not play well in that situation.... he's clearly still top ten but the team has changed a lot... they're going to need some time to adjust, although the overreactions are priceless and certainly expected but still a giant cluster of nonsense.

The game to game overaction high and low is so why other teams and fans hate our fanbase. now i see it..

Terrible just terrible... .
